This lad had that dodgy rolex ad removed a while back but i guess they couldnt be arsed banning him.

We hand out very few bans these days, and I've removed 16 of his ads for fake watches at this stage. They usually get the message in the end

So what does it take to get a ban if having 16 ads for counterfeit goods removed isn't worthy of a ban?

Sorry, this isn't the forum for that discussion

What forum can it be discussed in.

You're welcome to discuss it here if you like; I as a an Adverts Mod won't participate in it though, as the internals of how Moderation and Support work on Adverts.ie is not for public discussion - I just hang out here to post the odd picture, and laugh at the poor fakes along with the rest of us :)

What better place to discuss it than a thread about reporting fake watches, but if your not going to elaborate on why someone who has posted 16 ads for counterfeit watches hasnt had his user account removed their isnt much of a discussion to be had.

In fairness to Spocker, mod actions have never been fair game for discussion anywhere outside of feedback.

I'm just happy we have a mod floating around who will action reports and remove reported ads.

Well I can tell you that an unstable idiot threatening to come to your house and assault you is insufficient for a ban....so selling a few knockoffs would hardly register. I think even killing John Wicks dogs wouldnt do it.

The way I generally deal with them is that they get a couple of chances, and then a polite message explaining the rules of adverts and the policy in relation to replicas/fakes etc.. most people are decent and reply apologising claiming they didn't know.
Some people tell me to P!ss off and that they should be able to do what they want yada yada, and I just quarantine their account and let somebody in the office deal with them when they realise their account is frozen!
Usually has the desired effect. Fairly few and far between to be honest that continue to relist replicas. Most head off to dungdeal

Why are they deleted so quickly? Never get to see the watches linked,.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,305 ✭✭✭Homer

    Care to give some details?
If be surprised if that particular seller tried passing off a fake tbh?
That's the kind of stroke that'd destroy him in the Irish trade at least.

Your answer seems to answer my questions though

That seller seems very legit indeed.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Legit dealer but expensive ( what dealer ain’t).

My concern would be how he sources replacement parts for service.

Look not to sound like a dick!
But posting the watch from a well known and legit seller with no comment or question?
In a thread dedicated to busting fakes, with comment?

If you had questions regarding the watch, well and good!
Surely you should see the sense in actually asking them?

Or asking them on a different thread, rather than implying a fake watch with no details?

I presume all rolex on adverts are fake

If you can’t tell a fake from a real rolex then best to avoid adverts and go to an AD
That's good advice. Unless you know your stuff, I'd say that applies to much of the world of buying watches.

and thats why you get none of the deals that come up from time to time. You got to have some balls to buy big ticket items private sale, but there are real bargains to be had for those willing to do their research. I have a Rolex on adverts at the moment 3k under watchfinders prices and still in warranty. Chris in IChrono is a legit dealer and sells no fakes.

Doesn’t matter. It’s against adverts.ie rules to deal replica/fake items.
