What a great win for Vettel. I was f*cking on my last nerves watching that I can only imagine how Ferrari felt :D

    Also huge result for Gasly

Gasly my driver of the day.

That was an absolute thriller of a race. Wow.
What a drive from Vettel, Gasly what a weekend for him. Shout out to Ericsson as well for a great race. Stepped up his performance majorly

    And well done Honda

That takes an incredible amount of stones to be able to win on a one-stop with SS and soft tyres

That's great to see from the TR guys. That's the best race since Brazil 16. F1 badly needed that. Bad for the Red Bull drivers though.

I'd say Vettel if he was being chased by anyone else other than Bottas. Driver of the whole weekend for Gasley.

    That's a lot of fireworks

    This too shall pass.

That shot of the circuit with fireworks going off and the new F1 music playing in the background was deadly. Like something right out of a Bond movie

Rightly Gasly is driver of the day.

    This too shall pass.

If Honda are getting it together that's good news for Red Bull down the line.

Hamilton on Verstappen when it showed the crash replay.

    Delighted for Sauber too.

Mechanics upset? Not good from the hospital?

    This too shall pass.

Cracking race and plenty of positive results throughout the field.

Biggest losers are Williams and Red Bull

They probably should have told Vettel about the injured mechanic before he got to the podium.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 205 ✭✭JPF82

Verstappen has a lot to learn yet, all his own fault. Alonso put the squeeze on Hamilton fairly on lap one. That's how it should be done.

    That leg break looked bad....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,414 ✭✭✭✭flazio

I'll give Lewis a bit of credit to get up from 9th to the podium but the Red Bull double retirement played a big part of that.

    This too shall pass.

I wonder will they start looking into things which might make the pitstops safer, two races now where pitstops have an issue

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,639 ✭✭✭✭ELM327

What a race, can't believe Seb nursed the tyres to keep the win.
With 2 laps to go I'd have bet the farm on a mercedes with DRS against tyres 10 laps outside their window.

Maybe make the car be stationary for a mandatory minimum 5 seconds.

When people work faster than what is possible then mistakes will get made.

    That's Kimi.
    It's not his fault afterall.

That interviewer is pathetic, she just mumbled words and replaced them with non-recognisable syllables from a non English language. I'm embarrassed for her. If you can't speak the language don't get a job on live TV.... especially with a "live cannon" like our kimi.

Driver of the day and even team of the day ok maybe not team of the day but close to it has to go to Pierre Gasly and Toro Rosso Honda. What a result.
Felt sorry for Ricardo but not Max that was all his own fault.
Terrible what happened on Kimi's pitstop with the mechanic getting injured. Looked nasty. Not Kimi's fault do. Hope he makes a full recovery. Going to take him a few months for the leg to heal do so that's that mechanics season ruined.
I really thought for a while the Bottas would have got it but fair play to Ferrari and Vettel for getting the car to the end on the tires and the amount of laps they done.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

I think the mechanics are probably okay with some danger and they probably like the competition with other teams, so hopefully there wouldn't be a major change or something that takes away from the fast pitstop, sure they could always just bring back the lollipop

How many pitstops go off flawlessly?
This will just add to boring races.

Maybe have a defined space at the pit stops where the mechanics stand, kneel whatever. You could clearly see the poor mechanic that got run over by Kimi had one leg in front of the rear wheel. Maybe not such a good idea. If his leg had been beside the wheel instead of in front of it he might have been ok.

yes but his back would be ruined. them tyres are heavy , you would need to be over it properly to have a good safe grip

Gasly on the radio after the race "now we fight" copying Alonso from two weeks ago.
A big victory for Honda today

It works both ways really, better sometimes not to get in the way when somebody already being looked after by a few people, no doubt he was concerned for the mechanic

Yes true would not be good on the back. Yes I would say they weight a bit alright. Anyone any idea what a rear F1 wheel and tyre weighs.
There will have to be some review and talk about it anyway. May be some new practice will have to be put in place. Just watch a see all we can do.

Driver completely at fault. He jumped the gun. The old tyre had not even been removed from the hub, remember, so how could "go" be signalled at that stage of the pitstop unlike, say, when a new wheel has been fitted incorrectly. He (Raikkonen) has "previous" in this regard. Suffers from colour blindness, clearly.
