Thanks for the post.

For wiring up a 5.1 system you would require speaker cable to the 5 speakers that make up the surround set up. (Front left and right, Rear left and right and the centre).
Starting at £1.19 per meter for the Cambridge Audio symphony 100

(Depending on which speakers you would be running would determine the quality of cable used).

The subwoofer runs on a different type of cable which is a phono to phono cable.
Cambridge offer a 7.5 meter one for £19.95

If you went down the road of Atmos there are two ways you can set this up.
You can use two in-ceiling speakers like the Monior Audio Pro 65 priced at £69.00. (Depending if you can cut hole in your ceiling or not).

You would need to run speaker cable from the location of your amp to each of these also.

The second way would to use upward firing speakers and there are a few manufacturers who have released some sets of these.
Onkyo have the SKH410 priced at £119.00

Next up would be the Elac Atmos A4's retailing at £249.00

We are just putting the roof on now but as it is a a two storey house I’m not sure if putting speakers in the ceiling is the best option. If we went with the two speakers for the Atmos, can these two speakers be placed at the two top corners of the room? Do you only need two speakers or one for each corner?

Aside from these speakers what else is required for an Atmos? Would you be better going for https://www.richersounds.ie/p-201530-hts5805.aspx as a set up or going with a set up like the Denon receiver https://www.richersounds.ie/p-13062-avrx3400.aspx (what else is required with a receiver? The advantage of going for higher spec cables basically gives better resistance, better sound quality.
The below link is taken from the Cambridge Audio website and explains things a little deeper.

For an Atmos setup (5.1.2) you only require 2 Atmos speakers to go along with the normal 5.1 system.
The extra two Atmos speaker must go either in the ceiling between your seating position and the front left and right of the 5.1 setup.
The second way in mentioned above requires the two Atmos speakers to be positioned beside or on top of the front left and right speakers firing upwards to the ceiling.
Mounting any type of speaker in the corners of the room would lose a lot of its effect as this would be far too high of a position.
Ideally you want the front left and right and rear left and right around head height while seated.

The link above in my first post is to the Dolby Atmos website and has diagrams of how a typical 5.1.2 Atmos setup show be positioned to get the best effect.

The Onkyo 5805 systems mentioned above is a nice easy all in one box 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos setup and the Atmos speakers are built into the front left and right speakers so no need to extra ones.

If going for the likes of the AVRX3400 (Which is an excellent receiver/amp) you would also require a 5.1 speakers setup (front left and right, rear right and left a centre speaker and a subwoofer) and then the two additional two Atmos speakers.

For speakers to match the quality of the AVRX3400 you would be look at something like the Q Acoustics 3000 series 5.1 priced at £639.00

Hi Patravers.

No matter were you mount the speakers you would still require speaker cable to be run to each speaker from the location of where the Amp/ Receiver will be sitting.

So if wall mounting then yes you would be required to plaster the cables into the wall inside a bit of trucking. Making sure that enough cable is left at both the speaker and the receiver end for connecting.

Can you give me an idea of how you would configure the system when you have to have the tv in the corner we have a square room the back of the room and right have windows the sofa will face a duplex see through stove which I was informed will have too much heat for a tv meaning the tv will be in he left or right corner. How would you configure 5.1? I can send a pic if you need

You could drop to the AVRX2400 with the Mass 5.1 for the bundle price of £789.00 and it would still sound fantastic!!!

The Symphony 100 is a good entry level cable but perhaps the 200 would be better for this quality of setup. The Symphony 200 is priced at £1.79 per meter but i could offer at £1.50 per meter.

You would still also require a sublink.

You can indeed get wall plates that the speaker cable would connect into the back of and then on the front have banana plugs inputs.
The face plates are not something we normally stock but I'm sure I could source some for you.

You are still going to need to run cables between the wall plates and the speakers using banana plugs on one end or both ends.

Its really up to yourself which way you go for mounting the speakers depending on which you think would suit your room better.
Usually a customer would use stands for the front and wall mount the rears but it really is down to the individual.

Can I call someone first thing Monday , chasing walls starting and directly to the left of the sofa is the door so can put speaker there and door closes j , thinking putting surround speaker on wall at back and having door hammstoppjng door closing on it.
Putting speaker on side wall may be too far forward. I sent the pic of plan before but can send it again to discuss

If this is for the Atmos setup I would just leave the tweeters facing down wards. 

That's how we have them setup in our demo room also.
