Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Here is where Roma finally screw us for getting Salah on the cheap.

In fairness, would it be that bad a trade?
(finish in the top 4 and the season = a success)

We can end this tie in 20 minutes of first half, stick 5 past them. Great draw and a great chance now to win the lot .
This is where Alisson Becker will try to earn his transfer fee.

    Blue Moon reacts

It really was tough to watch us struggle to not one, but two 7-0 victories in the group stages as well as a meagre 5-0 in the round of 16. I hate being a Liverpool fan at times.

A good draw on paper but the second leg will be tough.

Feel confident though. Just need to keep everyone fit now.

We need the same as against Man City, a massive defensive effort to keep them scoreless, and it'd be all in our hands in Rome.

Everyone was wondering what would happen when Red Bull meet Red Bull however no one thought about FSG meeting FSG!

And where Karius gets to show that he's better than Allison!

Real will find it difficult to get past Bayern. They give little away, Džeko for Roma will cause us a lot of problems.

Start throwing bids at Roma for Allison before the games, for the craic.

Joint favourites on b365 to win outright now at 2-1 with Real.
    Bayern 9-4
    Roma 9-1

i love the butthurt. not only online, but even people in the office.

reactions ranging from a 'fix', to 'we have no excuse if we lose', to faking sincerity in wanting the team to do well.

so many rival fans don't know what to do.

they're all fúcking petrified that we might win this thing.

I'm really not sure first leg at home / away makes a big difference.

Home draw first against City really worked very well for us. It's much of a muchness for me.

The goal should be to absolutely blitz them in the first 30, same against City. Hopefully get a goal or 2 up and set us up nicely.

I watched the end of the Barca game and Roma seem to know only one way - attack.

There should be away goals in it for us there I reckon. Not conceding at home again could put us in a very favourable position.

I really hate having the away goal hanging over you in the 2nd leg where the pressure is higher and the away goal is more deadly

Barca turned up at that game expecting to walk through to the Semi Final, they were not prepared to fight after Roma got their 2 goals. Liverpool you would hope would not have the same attitude if they were going away with such a big lead. It will be tough but a bonus to enjoy

I know Roma have been good but surely they are on paper the weakest team in the semi final ?
My thinking is you can't play amazing in every game, Only a few time a season do you defy the odds, Its why bookies make loads of money as the favourites normally win
We would have to have two games like the City ones to beat Madrid or Bayern, but we can beat Roma if we play well , we don't have to be  outstanding  to do them .and then save another huge performance against the odds for the final
I'm not taking Roma lightly but in reality they just aren't as good as Bayern or Real consistently

Roma haven't conceded at home all season in the CL. They've also beaten Chelsea. The easiest draw, perhaps, but not actually easy.

They haven't played against Salah though, he's incomparable to the vast vast majority of players this year.

He's above Suarez on form this year and quite likely up there with Messi, IMO, accepting that Messi is better at many things with a ball.

Roma would have statistically been the easiest draw. But there are no easy draws at this stage

Its not just Salah though it is ,
Any our front 3 any of them can finish a tie  , all it need's is one on of them on song and your goosed ,

Will Salah wilt on his return? He might need to make sure to score a hat-trick in the first leg.

Well Salah's goal tally suggests that he's more often involved at the ole putting ball in net game. We do indeed have a brilliant front 3, Salah is different class though IMO.

Roma are definitely the least difficult opponents, their odds reflect that. 10-1 in a 4 horse race, they are rank outsiders. Of course anyone can beat anyone on any given day, but I'd fancy us to do the job against them in the first leg and go to Italy just needing to see it out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,289 ✭✭✭✭rob316

Roma are no mugs. That will be a really tough 2 games, they wont rock up at Anfield trying to outscore us like City. They'll be compact and defending from the front.

This is so ****ing exciting though, potentially a final against Real or Bayern.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,466 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Faith plays a part, both Roma and Real have had huge slices of luck on their side. They look like the winners the Gods want.

If, if, it is a Madrid Liverpool final - the Ronnie worship from the neutrals will be at absolute fever pitch... think the Pope's visit in 1979!

Yeah, I think we were 8/1 before the draw, we're into joint fav as we aren't playing BM or RM next.

If the PL were smart & really wanted to help teams do better in Europe.

The EPL game vs West Brom could be moved to Friday Night. Would still be live & would give the team an advantage for the 1st leg.

Roma's game in Serie A will most likely be moved to Friday.

I've been reliably informed by a 'friend' that the last time we played Roma, they destroyed us!

If only they took the time to watch the clip before sending it on. :)

Last 4 of the CL (chance to win it yet of course) coupled with a hugely likely Top4 or better in the PL is a tremendous season.

Any neutrals etc bleeting on are doing so simply out of jealousy pure and simple, with sprinklings of fear and begrudgery too of course.

For those who are thinking happy days we got this. I wonder were Barcelona thinking the same the last round. Glad Kloop will take it seriously

Not sure if they will, they conceded 4 away at barca and by all accounts sounded like they gave it a right go, missing a good few chances. Will be interesting to see how it pans out, fcking buzzing

If you watched the highlights against Barca, the won the ball everytime in the air with Dzeko. It won't be quite so easy for him up against Van Dijk, so we can definitely handle the aerial threat.

Roma boast a very nice midfield though with Nainggolan, De Rossi and strootman.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,385 ✭✭✭Nerdlingr

    Pjanic plays for Juve

but yeah... De Rossi, Nainggolan and Strootman...thats a good solid midfield three.

Clyne and Klavan are on the injured list for the game against Bournemouth and Firmino has had an issue with his neck.

Klopp injury update: Firmino, Klavan, Clyne and Emre (LFC)

9/1 is some odds in a four horse race. Looks like the bookies feel Romas performance the other night was a one off.

Anyone know how Roma have done this season vs. Juve & Napoli?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,337 ✭✭✭✭monkey9

A good draw on paper, but really at this stage does it matter who we get. Roma will be tough but we'd probably be favourites which brings it's own bit of pressure, different to being drawn against Madrid for example.

My main opinion is that at the start of the season, if someone had said we'd end being drawn against Roma in the semi final of the Champions League, i'd have been chuffed with that.

Well, for illustrative purposes, if they were 9/4 to qualify against us and 2/1 to then win the final that as an accum is just shy of the 9/1 they are quoted as of now to win the CL.

The prices for the other 3 are looney short IMO.
