Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Bringing on a 3rd CB near the end NEVER works for us.

Why would Miner deliberately handle it, he did not, no pen.

Era, I'd say we'll get a few goals in Rome.

I genuinely think it nearly makes us more nervous as a team. Overthinking things.

    Yeah 5-2 is still massive.

    We've a commanding lead still.
    Be grand .

    Kilbane said it there,

The 2 goals conceded will keep them honest for the 2nd leg.

We just beat Roma 5-2 in the Champions League semi-finals, why do I feel so angry right now?

We beat City 3-0 and we ended game all down

Because it could have been so much better

Why are the Roma players complaining they got all the luck

How can you be 5-0 up with 10 mins to go and feel gutted after the game?

Not happy conceding 2 weak away goals. If that bites us in the ass I will be fuming!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,308 ✭✭✭Pyjamarama

Its all grand lads. We'll score over there. It was one mistake really. Never a peno. We'll be fine. We're a much better team than Roma.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,949 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

I'd be surprised if the bookies even gave odds on us scoring an away goal next week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,480 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Football gods wanted a game in second leg,

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

5-0 was probably too generous to how it started. Penalty was sorta harsh but I would have taken that at 7.45

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,061 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

Well let's be honest we'd have taken that scoreline in a flash at 7.45.

Those players who are, for one reason or another, suspect (naive age, lack of talent, temperament) all showed themselves when things got "too easy" and then tricky again tonight, Klopp will be both happy and annoyed tonight - like me.

Lovren will always give the opposition a chance. Great 90% of the time but that other 10% will cost you.

Liverpool will score away goals next week. Possibly more than 1. If it becomes a goalfest Liverpool will win.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,502 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

I do think we’ll be okay next week though tbh. Barcelona massively took their lead for granted, the fact that we know Roma are capable of such a comeback will work against them because we won’t be anywhere near as complacent as they were.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,407 ✭✭✭facehugger99

I would have taken 2-0 at half time, so that result is fine.

We will get an away goal in Rome.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,348 ✭✭✭✭ricero

Gini was fantastic when he came on. Peno decision was shocking.

Salah is the king of kings.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,983 ✭✭✭✭NukaCola

Last 10 minutes was muck and away goals are vital but 5-2 is still a great result, we'll need to be very very wary in Rome but we had to anyway.....They haven't conceded at home all season in the CL but I think we'll get at them.

We also need a new CB to partner VVD, I'm not getting into it anymore, enough is enough.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,163 ✭✭✭messinkiapina

Any chance Clyne could be converted to a CB for the remainder of the season in place of Lovren? Even mignolet at CB might be an upgrade.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,037 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

****it - still well on top, and ahve well and truly shown that we have more goals against these lads in us, with a fresh Mo, Mane, and Bobby in the return.

Shocking from Lovren for their first, but to be honest the second was simply handed to them for no reason. Absolutely no way that's a pen, and absolutely no fault in Jimmy - did exactly what he should, and the ref fluffed it.

Can't do anything about the ref simply giving them one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,740 ✭✭✭✭MD1990

No wonder Klopp has talked about momentum being so important.

Never been so clear as in this game.

    Still a great result overall.

Wonder how long it’ll take before Roma get a sympathy penalty.

85 minutes was the answer, it turns out.

In a game like this you stay strong, not bring on Championship players to rest Salah. You stay full strength

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,983 ✭✭✭✭NukaCola

Worried about Ox now.....looked crocked, not sure how we'd cope with just 3 CM's for the rest of the season....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,477 ✭✭✭✭Knex*

If we didn't score 5 I'd be absolutely fuming over that penalty decision. Genuine shocker.

I’d rather have won the game 2-0 than this, they have a shît ton of momentum behind them now in this tie.

How would you rather a 2 goal lead than a 3 goal lead.

Do you really believe Liverpool won't score?

Roma lost the match tonight and were well beaten.

    Momentum is with Liverpool

Kinda felt like a penalty the ref wouldn't give if the score was 2-1 or 1-1. But at 5-1 yeah why not.

    So depressing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,985 ✭✭✭ebbsy

    Not concerned at all.

In fact we will win over there as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,705 ✭✭✭BrookieD

Very hard for Roma to score 3 with out reply from Liverpool, Think we are there but need to be on top form

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,248 ✭✭✭✭BoJack Horseman

A Lovren f*ck up and a dodgy penalty decision takes the shine somewhat off the night a little.

Like that feeling against Man City in the league game, overwhelming them, hammering them.... but nearly shooting ourselves in both feet at the end.

Because they got a penalty that was never a penalty.

Either way, we;re 3 goals ahead and can destroy them in Rome.

Looked like a season ender. No midfielders left to rotate now. The three left will have to play every game probably.

Apart from the obvious star performances our midfield trio dominate yet again . This time in a CL SF its time people realised our midfield is actually quite good and there are very few teams that can live with us in that department.

Lallana might be back for the final ;)

The momentum most certainly is not with us, how could you even suggest that it is? We went from essentially booking the flights to Kiev to actually having a proper game on our hands next week. Yes we won comfortably in the end but the momentum is substantially behind them. They’ve yet to concede at home in the competition and they’ve already pulled off a similar comeback against a strong team a couple of weeks ago.

We’re obviously favourites to advance to the final by a distance, but it’s a completely different ballgame than it was at 70 minutes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,949 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

I like it, gives the neutrals hope that they can hold onto for another 8 days.

Well, its hard to answer that really. Roma are like a different team at home. They haven't conceded a goal in the CL at home and have played Ath Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea. So, it wouldn't be crazy for us not to score over there.

They've won their last 16 tie on away goals and the quarters on away goals. All that being said we are by far a better team and I fancy us to beat them in Rome also tbh, but I get why the poster would rather no away goal.

Bizarre statement alright. Momentum clearly with them in the last 15 minutes.

Would like an early goal to knock it out of them over there.

    Chamberlain injury looks bad.

Can see him being out for a long time.

Lallana might be back for the final ;)

Is that idle speculation, or something that might actually happen?

    Losing the Ox isn’t good.
