RE: Fota House APRIL 22nd Admission is €8 but iirc parking is free. 11am - 4pm and if past experience is anything to go by there are often queues to get in and if you are really looking for interesting plants be there early. https://www.facebook.com/pg/FotaHouse/posts/ .

I was thinking of going to the Fota House plant fair this year having never gone before. Would you recommend it? Is it private sellers offering the interesting plants or is it more nurseries are setting up stalls? What sort of prices are they looking for usually?

Highly recommended, its mostly small specialist nurseries selling stuff you wouldn't get in a garden center. iirc its something like 70 odd sellers.

Lots or really rare stuff, but the really rare stuff does sell very quickly.

Just back from Fota House Plant Fair, nice morning out and we are at least €200 lighter  Plenty of work to do next week as if we didn't have enough to do in the garden.

Next one we are probably going to is Mount Congreve Waterford 20th of May, its really a bit late in the year for planting stuff for us (ground dries out very quickly in the summer) but you never know what you will find. Chatting to the guys at Future Forests (futureforests.ie) they said if I emailed them a list of stuff I wanted they could bring it to Mount Congreve to save me paying for mail order delivery, so might be taking them up in that.

In addition to the list above I found these on the back of a leaflet I picked up at Fota House

JULY 15th Sun Blarney in Bloom (blarneycastle.ie)

SEPY 16th Sun Fota Autumn Plant Fair (fotahouse.com)

Thanks for the recommendation. There was quite a good selection of plants to choose from. Not all of them as competitive as I would like but got a few good additions for the garden.
    All the best.

There were some mad prices fair enough, think I saw some of the big Echium pininana for €25 but they were selling
