Serum recommendations

I was recently asked if I use a serum & I don’t, and not sure why not! I’m 41, and probably should start. I’m not sure what to get though. I’d prefer not to spend much on one. What brands would you recommend? I currently use Nivea Q10 range, and I’ve only seen one serum in that range, a Pearl one I think it was.

I have also used the No.7 range in the past year, but I can’t really afford to spend much on all these face creams, and there’s so much out there that I don’t know what to do!

I'm really liking the new Vichy 89 one - it can feel a little tacky when you put it on first but once it dries down a little, my skin feels lovely after it.
I've always gotten on really well with Hydraluron as well, now my skin is quite dehydrated so I tend to go for the moisture-type serums. Not 100% sure how good they are for other skin types.
