Deane Street closed to traffic now fully, and the bus parking on Clontarf Street bordering the Prism site is fenced off.

It's hard to put into words how much this development is going to brighten up the area, everything around it is derelict. Residential on the OCP Andersons Quay would really transform the area with all the offices coming online across the river.

Great to see the first Tower Holdings site going into reality too. Hopefully not the last from them given the level of ambition they have shown to date.

Good to see a development becoming a reality in that location.
However it seems to me that having a large homeless shelter in the area contributes in no small part to the general atmosphere and unsafe feeling particularly after dark.
I can't see that changing unless it is 'encouraged' to relocate elsewhere.

Any word on Albert Quay. Announcement on planning is supposed to be today.

Tomorrow afternoon is usually when they’re published on the website. Sometimes they’re leaked early to the media but no sign of any leaks so far.

Just had a look at the Albert Quay thread on that site and can't see anything about planning being refused.

Skyscrapercity is a weird site, often posts just dont show or else dissapper and re appear. Post just says refused but he is usually a fairly good poster.

    Ah no. Shame. :(

    Be interested to see why.

Looks like he has edited his post to three dots so either he got wrong information or posted in the wrong thread. Either way some hope is back

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,700 ✭✭✭fonecrusher1

Its a fairly conservative design. I'd be quite surprised.

Confirmed false alarm by same poster on SSC. Phew.

Decision will be on ABP website tomorrow afternoon if not already published in the media.

Expecting the usual referred back for further information rather than a decline. I say the developers have some confidence the fact they are ploughing ahead with the new building for Careys.

This is An Bord Pleanala - it'll be either grant or refuse.

In the first stage of the Strategic Housing Development process, the Albert Quay scheme was deemed reasonable to proceed to Application stage without further amendment.

Went past the Crows Nest site at lunchtime to have a look, progressing nicely.

Was a bit early this morning so had a walk along the river where the Mercy & UCC are planning new construction, there's some amount of space in there especially now that UCC have gotten rid of the biggest Japanese knotweed plantation in the city over the last few years!

Article about the proposed housing development in Ballyvolane on the Irish Times:

    http://https://www.irishtimes.com/business/construction/longview-seeks-permission-for-753-homes-in-cork-s-outskirts-1.4183685

Would love it to go ahead (purely for selfish reasons of course :pac:) but there are objections already.

    Decision due by April 28th.

Not mentioned in this weeks Decided Cases list

    Looks like it’s been delayed

Well thats disappointing, wonder what happened. Is the earliest we will hear about a decision next Wednesday now then?

Edit: the site shows cases until the 21st Feb so looks to be out of date, high chance media might get something soon but will have to wait till next week otherwise :(

Its not quite end of working day so hopefully it will appear in an hour or so. Or its just been rejected.

    :(

I'd be shocked if it was rejected. The ABP site looks like it just updates a few days behind. Only decisions up to the 21st are on the site.

Would be a cracking location if they get access to the proposed North Ring Road.

It’s mad. The same people who are crying out about the homeless crisis go ahead and object to all and sundry.

Sorry for bombarding the thread with pics, been sick for the last few days & cabin fever was taking hold. Got out for a bit of stroll after work.

Offices (I think) under construction at the brewery site.

    503925.jpg

And had to go take a gander at the Prism to reassure myself it really was kicking off :)

Should be news on the Albert Quay development next week.

Both I and other posters made the mistake of forgetting that it's actually last week's decisions which have been put up on the website this evening.

Would be nice if the local press got hold of it early.

I'm actually relieved tbh. Next week it is so. :pac:

    Good news on Sextant development:

Hopefully none of the serial objectors delay this.

    Fantastic news.

100% there will be objections from the whinge brigade (with that gob****e 'artist' from cobh at the helm) but hopefully that will be reviewed then thrown in the bin relatively soon.

Well done ABP. Cork city takes another leap ahead. :)
