Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What about bloody sunday if you're going to rake up the past.

The muslims are coming bombing the west, where they are not welcome.
The IRA were freedom fighters in their own country. Bombing foreign people who were not welcome. Big difference.

Fixed that there EML, hope you don't mind!

Massive difference between wanting equality in your own country and wanting to destroy the way of life of the country who took you in.

What home grown Jihadis are doing to the UK and sadly Ireland is akin to me bombing, knifing and shooting the people of the UAE because I disagree with the way they run the country and demanding mixing of sexes, drinking and free expression.

So you are saying for that reason people should give today's Muslim extremists and their supporters a pass?

Please show me a single post of mine where i have said that? I'm saying you cannot tar all muslims due to a small minority who commit terrorist attacks the same way you cannot tar all irish due to the acts of the IRA
You can however absolutely link the same common denominator with all of them which is the Islamic ideology they espouse in all these attacks. It's  got Islam written all over it every time an attack happens. Thankfully so far this year we haven't seen any Islamic terrorism on these Islands between UK and Ireland. But it's probably just a matter of time before the next one.

Muslims travel to a different country ?Aren't most of the killings carried out by people born in those countries ?

And the IRA travelled to another country to kill innocent people. Your "freedom fighter" is my terrorist!

No matter whatbl lame excuses you come up with, deliberately targeting innocent men women and children in a town center is as bad as anything islamic terrorists have e done.

Blowing up innocent children to further your cause (whatever the cause may be) is despicable. You dont agree with me on that because you see the killing done by your countrymen as right.

You said "as bad as anything Islamic terrorists have done".

I'm pointing out the utter bollox in that post.

FYI - I disagreed with some of the IRA engagements. Quite a few. But what other choice was there ?

As a great man once said, "Violence is never the answer but sometimes it's the only way to get them to listen to the answer".

Muslims travel to a different country. But they don't integrate. A second generation muslim born in france to Arabic speaking parents is no more french than I am swahili. These imports are not welcome, they bring bombs and disarray. We have a free society here, if they have such a problem with it they should head back to the sand dunes.

The IRA travelled to the UK - which I don't necessarily agree with - but those were different times, around the hunger strikers etc. The struggle should have been confined to the island of Ireland. And atrocities like Omagh were not on either, for the avoidance of doubt.Targeting the british military or british institutions is fair game but targeting ordinary folks of either creed is not on.

But - and here's the main difference - we've moved past the semtex and armalite to the ballot box. Those muslims kill indiscriminately and look to take out as many westerners as possible. I remember it not being safe to go to Belfast but at the moment I'd feel safer as a Catholic in East Belfast than I would in some areas of London, Paris, Etc

I've drank in many bars in Belfast and felt perfectly safe - I've a shamrock tattoo and there was a portrait of the Queen behind the bar. Safe as houses.

Yet walking through Lyon town centre I felt terrified by the actions of a group of young men, the way they were acting. There was a public convenience in the middle of the square - you could not have got me to go in the for all the gold I could eat.

Some cultures are not compatible with largely secular, Western freedom and I fail to see why you would settle in one of those countries. I'd never live in Bahrain e.g.!

The Struggle could only ever be won by taking the war to Britain. Do you think the Brits really cared how many Paddies or Squaddies were killed. It was only with bombs in the City of London that the Brit establishment felt any hurt. Even back in the 30s Irish Republicans realised this.

    Excellent point, well made.

And the point to remember is there was a goal. What's the goal of the morons on 7/7 ? 72 virgins ?? They can have my Aunt Nora and the nuns who taught me, won't get them anywhere.

The jihadi goal is to kill. End of. They cannot be reasoned with, only destroyed.

Do you think Irish people moving to the UAE are integrating? Or are they hanging around in hotels drinking and socialising with other westerners while sending their kids to special schools? Should these westerners be sent back to their bogs or is it fair to have the freedom to educate your child and socialise the way you want. That is freedom, no?

Are they blowing up the Burj Khalifa cos they won't show Kerry v Monaghan in the hurling ? No. False equivalency and pure whataboutery.

The response after the Manchester Arena bombing told me that some just don't give a sh*t and the political leaders in the UK and Ireland don't care either. The only substantial response you got was some hippy peace rubbish and a concert, what we don't see the families having to pick up the pieces and living this day to day.

And all because some utter lunatic doped up to his eye balls in Islamic doctrine, so much so he was willing to kill himself in order to take out a lot of "infidels", the subhuman scum as him and people like him see us in this part of the world. The idea that someone was willing to do that and it had nothing to do with his ideology (Islam) just beggars belief.

Why else do you think he did it? The whole point of it was drenched in theology and ideology, he did it because he thought he would get into heaven for it and all his past sins would be wiped out.

As usual in these debates, you have the two extremes: The people who want to tar all Muslims as bad and then the bleeding hearts who are desperate not to offend Muslims, when there are clearly valid criticisms of Islam itself. In relation to terrorism, my guess is Islam itself is used as a cloak by the perpetrators . If you look at the history of nearly all the attackers in recent times they have invariably been loners and losers - unemployed, taking drugs, drinking and going to nightclubs. Hardly strict Wahabbi Muslims. Add to that the catastrophic levels of immigration of Muslims in to France and England and the separate lives they lead from their fellow citizens, and you're bound to end up with serious problems.

It seems with some of the liberal progressive posters on here that everyone is allowed to practice whatever religon they want but Islam and it's followers get special dispensation even if it's the least progressive. Women are second class citizens and brainwashed into thinking that wearing the Hijab or Burka is normal. If catholic girls were made to wear Nuns habits the same individuals would be up in arms about women's rights Also plenty of the same progressives where calling devot Catholics backwards for having a different option on same sex mariage and abortion but Muslims are against this as well and would have voted no. So were the same progressives calling Muslim no voters backwards with the same malice, it must wreck their little minds that they are defending such a backwards looking religion and followers when they see attitudes to women, young girls gay people Jewish people even dogs.
So no Islam is not right for Irrland, Europe or any modern Western society IMHO.

    A coward, or a realist.
Posters on this thread have commented on their direct experiences in these zones. Why are you not commenting on their posts?

Zidane definitely integrated in the community, spoke french, lived french customs etc.
Look at the likes of Ozil in Germany, if you want to take soccer players as examples. The mass migration from Turkey to Germany hasn't gone down well either.

PS: It's ok not to like people that are trying to kill you and your compatriots, it doesn't make you racist.

It's not racism to hate a religion surely? It's Islam, not Muslims I have a problem with.

How anyone left leaning can defend Islam is beyond me. Treating women as second class citizens for one.

Maybe when Muslims start ridding themselves and their mosques of the extremists people start giving them the benefit of the doubt. Everytime a Muslim carries out an attack we always get the same old "Islam is a religion of peace" and "We're the real victims in all of this"[yeah never mind the dead and maimed]Maybe when they start doing that and turning the extremists over to the authorities.

Also the Left needs to stop running defense for them. They're enabling bad behavior at this point.

It's a left thing. I hate a cult that wants to kill me for being a free open minded woman, who mixes openly with men I'm not related to and likes a beer.

The colour of the cult members doing that is irrelevant to me but apparently my dislike of it makes me racist. Go figure.

I absolutely guarantee that there are, to be honest the deflection is coming from "well meaning" left wing luvvies (for want of a better word).

The issue tends to be with second generation or third even - the parents/grandparents who came to Western countries for a better life seem fine - is the radicalisation is coming outside the home possibly ?

But when someone is clearly a risk, on a watchlist etc - they need to go.

Nope not stalking your posts. I'm just calling you out as a racist because you are one and it's nothing got to do with your opinions on Islam. I'll just leave Exhibit A here

Regarding Islam spreading into the west, I don't like it and I think it is a big problem. I'm no fan of any religion but Islam is quite clearly a lot more dangerous and backwards than most. No woman in the western world (or anywhere for that matter) should have to walk around in a beekeeper suit just cos her religion deems it so. As someone who considers myself liberal I do find it baffling that some liberals will defend Islam to the hilt. I do draw the line though at saying someone born in for example Ireland to Muslim parents is no more Irish than I am African.

Genetically, culturally, these people are not Irish. Now they are welcome to come here if they pass immigration and we have a need for them here (eg doctors). But to claim they are Irish is ridiculous.

Was born in the UK to Irish parents. Loved Ireland since I can remember, never felt anything but Irish. Live here now, pay taxes etc.

The thought - as expressed online not long back - that someone who has a goal to destroy my country is MORE Irish than me ? Very upsetting.

Genetically, culturally, these people are not Irish. Now they are welcome to come here if they pass immigration and we have a need for them here (eg doctors). But to claim they are Irish is ridiculous.
    Well it's a good job I didn't claim they're Irish then isn't it?

Report away. If exposing racists gets me a yellow card so be it.

Oh come on, are you telling me that if my girlfriend and I (both Irish) moved to Saudi Arabia and had a child there that the child would be as Saudi as the people who already live there?

Not according to the Saudis anyway!

No but they would be a lot more Saudi than you are Swahili to quote what was said earlier.

Except unless old Dick there has been concealing his Saudi nationality - the kid wouldn't be Saudi at all.
