Ecce entry points

I know that the ecce has officially only one start date now, in September, but I’m wondering if there’s any scope for deviating from this?
I have a child who was born in December 2015, so his eligible enrolment dates are sept 2018, and sept 2019. I can’t see him being toilet trained over the summer though.
I’m fine with him only having one year, if that’s the case, but thinking ahead, I feel he might enjoy it if he did start earlier. If the playschool we will be sending him to has space, would he be allowed to start in January? Or is it September or nothing?

I'd say ask.
I know my own little one is in her first year and they have had new kids in on and off all year.I'd say if the school has space they might take him.

I think the new rules are only coming into effect from this September onwards. Ah yeah, I’ll call in someday and ask, I just wondered if anyone else had queried it already!

I think that would be up to the school and if they’d have spaces during the year.
The Ecce is flexible to some degree-last year my son was entitled to a full free year but I didn’t feel he was ready so just did 3 days a week and that was fine under Ecce (even though he was entitled to 5). We just had to fill a form with details and there were no issues. He then went full time for his second year.

theres 3 start dates for ecce depending on childs DOB, September, January & April.

This changed in the last budget and from Sept 2018 children can only start in Sept and will get two full years. The start date depends on their date of birth.
