McGill looks completely shell-shocked, that frame was there for the taking.

    I certainly would

The standard in the Trump Walden game is diabolical.

Yes that’s the case. It’ll always be a minority sport though and hard for kids to access so it’s a tough one. I shudder to think too what happens when gambling sponsorship is outlawed which must surely be a matter of when not if. Without it Hearn would be totally goosed.

I have to agree there. Only for the betting companies the game would be in big trouble. I'm just waiting for the do gooder vigilanties to start asking for a ban on sponsorship. Complete knobs

Some good safety shots in Ding v McGill. Hopefully McGill gets a frame now.

McGill gets one on the board. 9-1 down, nice to see he has a sense of humour about it!

Absolutely. Don’t rate him personally as a future world champion but he comes across well, genuinely nice las.

Yep and we should remember what happened when snooker lost the tobacco sponsorship all those years ago and there was no plan b in place. Though have a feeling Hearns plan b this time might revolve around the yen.

Edit: or whatever the Chinese currency is!

    The comeback is on, 9-2.

What must Cliff Thornburn have been thinkin during that first round game against Nigel Bond?! 9-1 up and lost 10-9

Ha! You never know. Ding has been known to wobble.

:) McGill will beat him if he gets out of this 6-10 behind

Dreadful shot by McGill to be Chinesed on black, abysmal snooker

This is an awful frame. Ding’s concentration is totally gone. If he wins this frame, I think it’ll put him back on track though

Have been bigger flukes but not many so critical as that.

How did that red from Trump go in?

Wasn't a fluke. He walked around to look at the potting angle. He fancied it as the black made it a big pocket.

On second viewing I wasn’t so sure. May well have been intentional alright

Can anyone tell me where Mr. Willie Thorne is??

My internet went down this evening so no snooker for me today. Sounds like I didn't miss much.

Was down in the pub playing pool last night and everyone seems to think Ding is gonna win the tournament. I have to say I'm not feeling it myself. I fancy Allen this year.

BBC Sports Department let him go at end of last year out of nowhere. Pity, I liked him.

Gone basically. Dropped. Virgo was dropped from UK Championship coverage this season and Willie entirely. To give new blood a chance they say.

Think Willie still does the Welsh Open for bbc Wales though
