OOC: At the stairs you came in from, there were two passages, one heading south, and one heading east. You, and the others in your group are currently travelling that east passage.

[OOC: I've drawn a crude map. Thanks.]

An audible click is heard and the wall shifts in front of Lalwende's eyes, revealing a small room.

She can make out a crypt of some description by the north wall, surrounded by small candles. There is writing in what appears to be Elvish on the side of the crypt, but she cannot make it out from her current position.

    latest?cb=20170424010150

No exits appear to be inside the room.

Given her interest in history, Lalwende moves forward into the crypt wondering if there are any skeletons around. She approaches the crypt carefully and, using her ability to read and speak Elvish, she tries to read what is written.

The crypt is of magnificent design. On closer inspection, the Elvish writing reads:

Here Lies Sandor, King of The Black Gate Forest

Using her ability to detect hidden doors, Lalwende searches for a way to open the magnificent coffin while thinking to herself that this might not be a good idea. "Never mind," she thinks "Faint heart never won fair gold."

No hidden doors visible to Lalwende, but the top of the crypt seems loose and able to slide away freely.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,391 ✭✭✭✭Professor Moriarty

Taking a deep breath, Lalwende slides the top of the crypt to one side.

Stufur stands up very slowly and gently, thanking Stu and Webby.

    "A close...argh....one lads

    Perhaps I shall hang back"

He sees the opened tomb room.

    "So what is this then?"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,558 ✭✭✭✭Fourier

Seeing the young Elf about to open the crypt, Stufur shouts.

"Don't!! I am already injured, lest there be traps it should be me."

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,391 ✭✭✭✭Professor Moriarty

Lalwende steps aside to let Stufur approach the crypt. "Do you have trap detecting ability?"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 673 ✭✭✭The Dungeon Master

Taking a deep breath, Lalwende slides the top of the crypt to one side.

Lalwende slides the top of the crypt off easy enough. A small poison dart falls at her feet, the mechanism obviously faulty.

Within the crypt lies a pale man, with a jewelled sword clasped in both hands across his chest. His eyes are closed and he has the appearance of being dead.

Wondering if he really is dead, Lalwende tries to use her charm person spell. Such a fine looking man might be useful as a friend, protector and as a, well who knows?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,558 ✭✭✭✭Fourier

Stufur breathes a sigh of relief and walks to the crypt.

He looks at the man to determine his race.

The Charm Person spell hits the figure, but there is no reaction.

Seems to be of elven origin. Stufur can see by the ornate designs and construction of the crypt that the figure is a high elf.

Webby walks over to the crypt, initially shocked by what he is seeing, he is quickly comforted by the ease at which everyone is hanging around the crypt.

As he walks in he hears Lalwende chanting something, though it is unclear to Webby what she is looking to do... "He is dead already, surely... right?"...

Webby walks to the crypt and looks for handles on the coffin, he feels uneasy by this apparent 'King' and wishes to hinder the rise of the dead. If he is able to find anything, like a handle, he will be tying his magical rope accross the now open coffin to prevent a sudden rise.

"I really.... REALLY want to use this lovely rope.." he mutters to the group, who look at him puzzled by what he is doing.

Lalwende gently checks for a pulse and breath.

Webby finds nothing to secure the rope with. The inside of the crypt is sparse, of plain design in comparison to the exterior. The jewelled sword in the figures hands gleams a bit in the candlelight.

    Lalwende cannot find either.

Webby picks up the torch dropped by his party earlier and moves the light a bit closer, to closer inspect the gem and sword.

The jewels appear to be embedded in the sword, by some form of magic. It is a greatsword, much too heavy for Webby to wield.

Meera keeps back and stand in the door with one foot on either side of the threshold. She tightens her grip on her bow. 'I do not think it wise to meddle with dead kings. Is this not what got you people into this situation in the first place?'

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 468 ✭✭Nebelwerfer

Webby grabs one of his arrows and pokes at the bottom the coffin, listening out for the sound it makes as he pokes around.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 468 ✭✭Nebelwerfer

Webby responds to Meera, "Did you not just not only cast a spell but also fiddle with the wrist and neck of a dead king?"

He rolls his eyes at Meera.

Meera looks with confusion at Webby. 'I did no such thing halfling'.

Stu is taking a back seat, watching all unfold. He is glad Stufur is back on his feet.

Lalwende uses her infravision to scan the room carefully.

Lalwende uses her infravision to scan the room carefully.

The rest of the room is fairly basic. Nothing on the East or West walls. She can see the other release lever for the door just beside the opening on the south wall.

Webby turns red at the response from Meera "Im sorry, so many faces, voices... names and places... I suppose I am just a bit flustered" he admits.

The door slides shut, trapping Webby, Lalwende and Stufur in the room.

Ooc: is this room beside me now? Might need molly's map

"Would pulling it again open the door Lalwende?"

OOC: You are still by the deactivated trap. You can travel back the corridor to where the others are outside the room.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,391 ✭✭✭✭Professor Moriarty

Lalwende feels a little sad about that but decides to leave them there for a while as she explores the other rooms. "I'll pop back in an hour after I've checked out the other rooms I've seen." she thinks. She goes into the room at the end of the south passage.

The map isn' that impressive. I think we're just outside the crypt.

Lalwende turns to her companions. "My apologies, I haven't introduced myself. I'm Lalwende, a princess of the Magillacuddy Reeks kingdom. My father is Conchubhair, a powerful king who will handsomely reward those who protect me."

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,969 ✭✭✭✭Kolido

Stu glances at Meera's map and asks " have we explored both doors yet"?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,290 ✭✭✭Guffy

Echtrae feels alone, so alone and knows its not good for his safety. He travels back the corridor looking for any sign of where is fellowship have gone to, studying the walls as he goes.

Ooc: would i have seen them go into the door? Sufur seemed to go from lying to walking in the door hut unsure if door is further back the corridor

'I don't know. I just got here and followed the Halfling down to where your companion was injured'.

Meera inspects the alcove doorway for evidence of a handle or trigger to reopen the door.

[OOC: stufur was injured just before the bend that leads to the water. If you were still there I don't think you would've seen us congregate at the crypt door, I wasn't sure which bend to put the crypt at on the map so I stuck it at the second one. It might be back at the start though]

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 673 ✭✭✭The Dungeon Master

OOC: That map is NEARLY correct, Molly. Crypt room is back at east turn. There's a corridor heading west by the flooding, not a door.

Webby inspects the floor and walls up closely with the torch, knowing their time in there will be shortlived and wishes to make the best of the time.

    Hows this?

Nothing of any note, save for the lever Lalwende pulled to close them in.

Webby walks up to the lever, pulled by Lawlende earlier, and moves it back to its original position.

Webby now starts to panick, he looks up to the ceiling in the hope there is something of interest there... if not on the walls.

    "Oh dear!

Well Webby we are trapped. I doubt the door can be lifted. Tomb is high elven, perhaps they used a hidden exit for the room, perhaps not"

    Stufur begins his search.
