    Hi All,

I'm hoping I could get some help in checking if what i have picked for an upgrade are compatible.
My current pc is starting to grown a bit but my main driver for upgrading is its still on 34bit Windows.

    1. What is your budget? [€700 but really as little as possible so if you can get me in under that i'd be so grateful!]

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? [Gaming mostly World of Warcraft and the upcoming expansion] (If gaming include which games)

Minimum specs for which are here.

    http://wow.zamimg.com/uploads/screenshots/normal/698730.jpg

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? [Yes - I was looking at Windows 10 64bit]

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? [SATA Hard drive (Unknown brand)/DVD Drive (Unknown Brand)/Case (Citi Saturn Midi Tower) /PSU Corsair CX500

    5. Do you need a monitor? [No]

5a. If yes, what size do you need. [N/A]

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? [1920x1080] [No]

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? [Keyboard/Mouse/Wireless Card/Card Reader/Speakers/etc.] NO

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? [No- too clueless to even know where to start!]

    8. How can you pay? [Bank Transfer/Credit Card/Laser] Any

    9. When are you purchasing? [In 7-14 days]

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? [North Dublin but willing to give it a try myself]

I've picked these parts to replace the existing components. So I suppose my main problem is that I don't know whether they'll be compatible with each other or fit in the existing case!

Motherboard processor and RAM bundle, the motherboard this is replacing is an ATX ga-k8nf-9 and this one is a micro ATX.

    Graphics Card

Will the Corsair CX500 manage these?

Sorry for all the questions and if I've left anything glaringly obvious out but i know you all really know your stuff and I really appreciate any advice.

    Thanks a million
    Z

I would get a better CPU, the G4400 is on the very low-end of the scale. Would probably be pretty decent for WOW though, but when you've waited this long you might as well get a better CPU as a solid base.

I'd say Skylake i3-8100 (quad core) + cheap board, or else Ryzen 2400G + board. The 2400G has way better integrated graphics...so if your budget is limited you would get by on the built-in Vega graphics pretty well for a while while you save for a graphics card.

Also don't bother paying for Windows 10. The 'trial' version lasts forever with just a tiny watermark in the corner of the screen, and that's a huge saving to put into a better CPU or graphics card.

Ideally if budget allows I'd say a Ryzen 2600 (or older 1600 model still very good and cheaper) with GTX1050Ti 4GB would be a good choice for you. 8GB of ram is plenty for now also, RAM prices are insane at the moment.

If you want to do it as cheap as possible but still get decentish performance - Ryzen 2200G, A320M board*, 8GB 2400mhz, and GTX1050 2GB.

*check is compatible out-of-box with 2200G. Older versions of those boards will not be.

    Hi Lads,

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but thought it better than cluttering up with a new one.

So my circumstances have changes somewhat and I have a few quid to spend on this.

Looking to get into a bit of decent gaming. Hoping the below build will hold some water for a while. Budget ~2k I will be upgrading my Monitor to a 27 inch 1440 so budgeting that seperately (where best to buy btw?).

I've been playing around with a build, what's the story with GPU's it seems the 1080ti is still being touted as the gold standard for gaming?

My budget won't stretch that far with everything else so was looking at either a 1070Ti or an RTX2070.

What are your opinions on this build and which card would be best?

    Advice as always much appreciated!

First things first: ignore the Irish PCpartpicker - buy from the UK.

    2nd: you're overspending like crazy.

RTX 2060 just released, and it beats the pants off the GTX 1070 Ti. Overclocked, it's within 1-2f of the RTX 2070.

Also, the GTX 1080 Ti has been replaced by RTX 2080 - technically within budget if you go AMD on the CPU.

i9-9900K is dumb and shouldn't be bought by anyone for gaming TBH - the 9700K/8700K would be the upper limit.
However, I'd instead advise to go AMD - the Ryzen 5-2600(x) is stupidly good value, and their 3000-series is just around the corner and will trade blows with 9900K for less money.
And you don't have to buy a new motherboard every time you want to upgrade the CPU!

Thanks a million for taking the time to reply!

I was thinking that If i went for the higher end I would have a bit more time before I’d need to splash out again?

    Bad idea?

Also any thoughts on a nice monitor?

The Acer XG0 XG270HU is one of the few "G-Sync compatible" monitors from Nvidia's list - decently priced 1440p/144Hz TN panel.

If you want G-Sync, that's a fair bit extra:
