Hi, I am on a 37.5 hour week and need to ask to reduce my hours per day by 1 hour, therefore to a 32.5 hour week. How can I find out what my salary would work out at per month? I have no deductions coming out other than the statutory ones, and my tax allowance has gone to my husband as we are jointly assessed. I have a salary of 31,000 for 37.5 hour week, I just need to work out what it would be pro rata for the 32.5 hour week before I ask. Someone suggested calling the tax office (1890 333 425), can I do this? Thanks for any help

On the basis that you have the personal tax credit of €1,650 and the basic tax cut off point of 25,500 I work your annual take home pay to be €21,232. This will be different if you tax credit/ cut off are not as above. Your gross salary would be €26,867 approx 13.3% decrease

Just work it out by your hourly rate, doesn't matter that you're not actually paid hourly.

    €31,000/52 = 596.15 pw
    596.15/37.5 = 15.90 ph

    15.90*32.5 = 516.75 pw
    516.75*52 = €26,871 new gross salary.

thanks I did that but wasn't sure if it was too simplistic. thanks
It doesn't look as if they will accommodate me anyway so i'll have to look for something closer to home. Thanks everyone for the help!

That's a pity they won't reduce your hours. I've actually seen it make people more productive. They still get all their work done just don't 'faf' around during the day.
