Play DVD over home network?

Is it possible to play a DVD/BD disk on a player in one room, say the living room and watch the picture on a TV in another, a bedroom for instance? Both devices on same network.

You can share and mount drives between PCs, so a BR drive in PC A could be viewed on PC B.

Alternatively, a slingbox but reviews of that are mixed:
