Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

While this may be regarded as a dead rubber game for both teams with nothing on the line, it takes on extra significance as it`ll be the last time Wenger leads Arsenal out. There's been highs and lows, drama and excitement down the years, let`s hope today is no different.

Arsenal XI to face Man Utd.:

Debut for the Greek defender Mavropanos, a tough first PL game for him, will be interesting to see how he fares.Osei-Tutu is also in line to receive his debut , getting a spot on the bench with his first promotion to the senior matchday squad from the academy. There is a blend of youth and experience in this Arsenal team. Nelson needs to justify Wenger`s faith in him and prove his plaudits, also coming from the academy. It will also be interesting to see how Maitland-Niles fares in a midfield partnership with Xhaka.

Mhiki returns back after an injury sidelined him and faces his old club for the first time at Old Trafford. Likewise this is the first time Sanchez will face Arsenal since he left in January.

ETA: Mavropanos becomes the 200th player to receive his debut under Wenger.

This could well be a hammering that’s a rather poor Arsenal side.

Looking at the Arsenal team, who the hell is Mavropanos? Youth player?

Arsenal to get smashed. One less game with le bluffer and it can't come soon enough.

Perfect time for United to be playing Arsenal. Anything less than three points would have to be considered a disappointment.

Was bought in January from PAS Giannina in Greek Superleague..was reportedly a Sven acquisition.

Valid points made, but United never seem to do things the easy way.

Well he certainly gets a trial by fire debut today :pac:, if this is his first time starting in Arsenal's senior team.

Off to Google I go to find out more..

Yep, definitely. But Arsenal coaching team have been very impressed by him since he arrived here.

    Interesting!

    https://mobile.twitter.com/OptaJoe/status/990605370807615488?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fs9e.github.io%2Fiframe%2Ftwitter.min.html%23990605370807615488

24y 67d - The average age of Arsenal's starting XI (24y 67d) is their youngest for a Premier League game since August 2011, which was also at Old Trafford against Manchester United (24y 65d) when they lost 8-2. Inexperience.

I hope history does not repeat itself.

United 1/3 in the bookies. I actually think those odds are decent. Emptied my account on it.

Wenger deserves that respect. Those clashes between United and Arsenal were epic and will live long in the memory.

Nice gesture by SAF and Man Utd. I have a tear in my eye.

Should be a yellow for Xhaka.

    Wreckless, typical from him

You've seen the norm from Xhaka there, brutal tackler and his loose pass on the edge of 18

Sure why wouldn't United give Wenger a trophy. We sold ye our best players and took their worst.

Someone in the Utd commercial department doesn't miss a trick. "Yanmar - The official tractor of Manchester Utd"

Pogba started poorly. Seems like the ultimate confidence player and finds it hard to shake off early mistakes.

If only we could clone lukaku, best crosser in the team!

So many times this season he's done this

I wonder how many goals more he would have scored with better service out wide

And not Valencia drilling it low to knowone

What's the Wenger chant ringing around the stadium?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,109 ✭✭✭✭Quazzie

Nelson is very easily dispossessed. United seem to be getting it off him whenever he gets on it at all.

    Xhaka is useless

Xhaka will definitely see red today, can't see him keeping his composure for the rest of the game.

    Fs Valencia

All the time in the world to cross that

    Typical

That is never a penalty Smith.

L'Autobus for Arsenal when they use the ball.

Commentators crying for an Arsenal penalty. Neither challenge was remotely close to being a pen

Nah, player doesn't even appeal for it. Fair enough harrying, too slow in possession.

Sorry, do you want everybody to put "in my opinion" at the end of their posts so that you can understand the context of a comment in an opinion based scenario? We could even get a smile to denote this for you, as you seem to like them.

If someone, who is obviously biased states something as a fact which "Neither challenge was remotely close to being a pen" clearly is, then I was just pointing out that they're posted should be taken with a pinch of salt. Or maybe lemon is more bitter and therefore more fitting. ;)
