As to 'sagebrush' (Artemisia tridentata) - it prefers arid and semi-arid conditions is found in desert / steppe / mountain areas of N. America.

Unless you can provide similar conditions - the plant will struggle to grow in normal Irish conditions imo.

If you wish to give it a go seeds here:

    https://sheffields.com/seeds/Artemisia/tridentata

By any chance do you mean the herb sage?(Salvia officinalis). It grows quite well here as long as good drainage is provided

Very very well drained soil would be a must. Afaik it survives most of the year without water in arid areas and experiences only seasonal (Autumn/winter) rainfall.

The problem with Ireland is that it's more or less wet all year round. Therefore roots could rot in permanently wet soils (this happen with certain mediterrean type plants here)

If you had a well drained alpine type rockery in a sunny position - it just might grow ok as it is a very hardy plant. Would do best in acidic type soils.

May I ask why sagebrush specifically?

Maybe see how it does in a pot of very gravelly soil.
