Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Would you encourage your teenage daughter to use a vibrator?

This worked out well in the Fred and rose west household!

Sure beats leaving the sitting room nervously coughing when Miley started kissing yer woman in the hay barn that time (hay barn is not a euphemism).

    Well it certainly should be:D

Many years back, I actually ran into the lovely fidelma in a bar in town, would have been around that time I suppose - I tried to work my magic on her, but she was somehow impervious to my charm, so I never did get to play in her hay barn:mad:

It's best avoided, you know how competitive teenage girls are. Young Megan gets a cute vibrator from her parents for her birthday, and by the following Christmas little Amy finds this chap under the tree...

As with any Christmas pressies, don't forget the 4AA batteries.

They can literally go fcuk themselves

Talking about sexuality should be easy enough if you’re honest about it from the start. P

So I’d be fine with talking about masturbation but the thread question is about whether you’d encourage your daughter to use a vibrator which I don’t think I’d do. If they asked for information or asked to help them get a vibrator then I’d be fine with that.

There's something amazingly normal, sensible and mature about the video - just parents talking to their kids about masturbation. I'm not sure I could do the parent's role, but I really should.

I do confess to having a little giggle at YouTube's auto-subtitles attempt at 'pretend penis'.

I remember reading an article in the Metro where the female author (a man would be burned out of his house for being a pedo if he wrote what she did) unironically saying parents should teach their daughters how to masturbate.

Sounds sensible. I’d say they should teach children about masturbation what it is, why people do it and, yes, how to do it.

Yeah a great way to traumatise your child.

So you reckon all those kids in the video are traumatised?

No one wants to talk to their parents about masturbation.

Maybe no-one in Ireland who has been brought up with traditional Irish Catholic repressed attitudes to sexuality wants to talk to their parents about masturbation.

Some of the kids in the video seemed to be mildly embarrassed, but no worst than that.

Why would anyone need to be taught this???

Irish people are sexually repressed? Have you ever been out on a Saturday night? Seen what the girls wear?

The kids will be mortified once they reached puberty and realise not only did their weirdo parents talk to them about masturbation but they put it on youtube.

Saw this segment on This Morning last week and found it interesting. I don't have a teenage daughter but although I wouldn't give her a sex toy and say 'Off you go then princess', I would certainly encourage the mother to sit her down and explain to her that it's probably not the worst thing in the world if she wanted to go and explore her body intimately for the first time. I'm behind this for one reason: pleasure shouldn't be denied.

How many women of previous generations have gone their whole lives without ever experiencing a real orgasm? Many women can't climax from penetration alone, so a more surgical approach needs to be adopted, with extra attention dedicated to the clitoris, and personally I can't envisage a lot of men back in the day going to those lengths to please their ladies, nor can I envisage those women tending to their own needs, not while the church was still influential and a flick of the bean meant you were destined to spend the afterlife in hell.

It's sad really, and I don't see a major problem with ushering your teenage daughter into that world when they're old enough. Question is, when are they old enough? I wouldn't broach the subject before they're 15. I think 13 and 14 is a bit too young and it can be a confusing enough period as it is, but 15 seems okay.

I'm interested in other pros and cons here, but overall I feel as if pleasure - especially female pleasure, which can be a lot more intense and magical than what we experience - is something that be encouraged, not denied.

Whats wrong with doing it manually?
Like the old fashioned way- who would know?

Yeah a great way to traumatise your child.

    Traumatise? Gerr-up outta that.

I think most of the embarrassment comes from the parents in these circumstances. And besides, embarrassment isn’t a good reason not to teach children about any aspect of personal hygiene.

I doubt it’s traumatic to hear about cleaning your bum after a poo or washing under your fore skin. Masturbation is a normal part of life and involves personal hygiene and sexual development.

Of course it’s a parents job to make sure the kids are informed.

That’s how repression works. You repress something in normal everyday life then it erupts in over the top outbursts. Saturday night is an example of the outburst, the people on this thread who think it’s wrong or embarrassing to talk to a child about a normal aspect of sexuality, is an example of the day to day repression.

No it's not! Jesus, you discover yourself how to do it. Why on earth would you need your parents to teach you?

    I'm all for having a good ****.

Nothing wrong with encouraging the ladies to crack a couple off every now and then.

Sure you could say that about almost anything sex related. They can learn about from the lads behind the proverbial bike shed, or if they have good parents they can learn it from them minus the bullsh1t and confusion.

Should be an easy decision for anyone who takes their job as a parent seriously.

Better to lose your virginity to a vibrator than some lad who won't care bout you.

Damn right. Masturbation before 18 is a myth.

I mean... I GUESS I don’t see the big problem with it. If she came to me about it and was of an appropriate age. I generally have very little shame when it comes to the bold stuff. Would be a bit hypocritical of me to turn her off it when I’ve been cracking one off daily for the 13/14 years.

Was sure this thread must have been bumped because it was the news today that Jada Smith's grandmother taught her how to masturbate at 9 and she went on to become addicted to it.

You can watch the episode of their show where it was discussed here.

If I had a teenage daughter, I would like her to know what an orgasm feels like and to be able to instruct partners on how to give her one (ooh matron). If a vibrator helped that, it's all good. Whether I would wrap one up and give it as a present, I doubt it, but I wouldn't have any problem with her having one.

Just buy one of those suction cup ones to use in the shower, saves buying all them batteries.

    Jesus Christ - that's disgusting.

I have no problem with masturbation (I'm quite the accomplished practitioner actually:D) However, I do have a major problem with fúcking grannies teaching children to play with themselves - there's a name for that shít - paedophilia.

If my 9 year old daughter comes and tells me that granny has been showing her how to flick the bean, granny's going in a hole up the mountains! Dirt bird:mad:
