Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've got a heavy cold today. Of all the times to get it.....

    Hi,
This is crap news indeed, get some vitamin C in to you (Rubex etc), asap and panadol and hopefully it will pass. Maybe try a bit of Vick on your chest too and on DCM day.

Best of luck, hopefully will see you on the day!

Yes - I read that Team Archie are there at the bottom of the stairs doing it voluntarily - with a bucket if you’d like to donate.

Random thought: I know they don’t reveal the finishers t-shirt until the end. But, is there a guide to sizes? Just wondering as I want to be sure I get the right size! Had a recent scare with my marathon race too which, due to the amount of training out in - could have done with been a size smaller! Admitedy, it’s a nice problem to have though. Anyway - just wondering if from previous experiences are they sized comparably to other stuff out there!

I *think* there's a table where you can swap t-shirt sizes if they don't fit? Maybe I was hallucinating at the end of DCM last year.

Hmmm - I just saw it posted during the week on Facebook or somewhere. I’ll see can I find where I saw it.

Just want to wish everyone the very best of luck on Sunday. I had intended doing it this year but decided not to and not am crippled with jealousy now!! I've been watching this thread from time to time and know you are all extremely well prepared. One of the things that will always stick with me is the crowd and the atmosphere at Castleknock as you exit the Park. If you wear earphones you will miss all that and that would be a terrible pity.

Also, dont underestimate the outburst of emotion as you approach the finish. Seeing the 26 mile marker for the first time ever made me well up I have to say and I had to get myself together in time for the finishing pictures :-) It's an emotional day everyone. Grab onto it and enjoy it.

Think it’s just Saturday that they are there actually from what I can see.

Does anybody know how busy the expo is today?

I might leave work a bit early and head over, or if it is jammed I could go tomorrow, if anybody knows that would be great?

I'd say they're fairly accurate sizes - i'd be small in tops that are unisex, probably medium if they're a women's fit. My finishers top from last year is small and it's perfect on me.

There is but strangely they don't seem to tell you that! Last year i was handed an extra small - anyone who knows me knows i haven't been extra small ever in my life :o Anyhow, i put it on without realising the size, it was a bit snug so asked to change and the lady said it was too late as i was wearing it. So off i went... thankfully i spotted the 'exchange table' myself and swapped it for a small :D

Just popping in to say best of luck to you all. I've decided to give it a miss this year as I feel the risk of re-injury is just too high. My left calf still isn't 100% and 26.2 miles is not the place to go testing it. I have a fantastic fitness base already which I can continue to build on (and maybe even work on slowing my LSR pace :pac: ) for next year. If I ran it I'd likely to be out for months, taking it extra slow to compensate is just not in my DNA and I know I'd end up full of regrets the next day/week/month with injured legs as a result.

Hope you all have a fantastic day out, looking forward to reading the race reports!

if theyre using the same sizes as the HM 2018 t shirts I think I will go for a large as the mediums were on the small side

I seem to remember reading posts in this thread from last year's novices about the number of runners they passed out during the marathon.

Is this right? Where can you check this?

can't remember where, but somewhere showed your position at 10k, HM, 30k so you could work out how many you passed based on that. May have been the official results at the time. Don't know if the info is still there or available

I've got a heavy cold today. Of all the times to get it.....

That sucks so much, such bad timing. I'm starting to get one too :( My partner had one for the past week so not surprising I got it but very disappointing. Hopefully it wont get too bad. Am taking lemsip and whiskey and Vit C. Luckily took the day off work so can rest properly. Does anyone know if it's ok to do the marathon with a cold? Obviously any target time goes out the window.
