Sands81 and Kavrocks are tops this week with a max score of three. Davys Fits' prediction of a draw almost pipped them, but not quite.
We have had two weekends of magnificent hurling, and still the leaders here cannot be separated.
Let's hope we get equal entertainment from the hockey final in London, just about to begin, and good luck to Ireland.

Welcome to Puzi who came in for the final and scored a respectable 2. Puzi could be a formidable force if he joins the next pools in good time, i.e. the NHL pools next January.

I have decided on an innovation as follows: Where a team is predicted to win a competition (i.e. All-Ireland, Joe McDonagh, Christy Ring, Nicky Rackard or Lory Meagher) and that team is runner up the poster will be awarded one point. Conversely, where the poster predicts runner up status for a team and that team wins the poster will also be awarded one point.

I would welcome your reaction to this. Do you think it a good idea or not?

Deise_abu takes the prize for thinking outside the box, having named Sligo as both winners and runners-up in the Lory Meagher. I agonised long and hard over whether this earned (a) 4 points (b) 2 points or (c) a kick in the arse. I decided that the rules don't exclude it, and following Thomas Paine's dictum in the Rights of Man ("that which is not expressly forbidden must be allowed") I have awarded him the full 4 points.Do you think there should be a rule banning this or should it be allowed?





It's all over and the front runners have finally been separated. We have a winner. Congratulations to Sands81. For good measure, Sands81 topped the longterm predictions table with 22 points. The Prince of Cumberland is left to ponder what might have been, having forgotten to post most of the longterm predictions.

The last interprovincial hurling championship took place in 2016. Tom Murnane of Kerry was on the winning Munster team. That is his All-Ireland medal. The competition provided similar kudos to hurlers from Carlow, Westmeath etc..The interprovincial championship is no more, thanks in particular to one county which drove the final nail in the coffin.
The big argument against this competition related to declining attendances. If the Irish Hockey Union took a similar view of attendances no hockey would be played in Ireland.
I have intended for some time to open threads inviting posters to pick interprovincial teams, with a composite team finally picked based on posters' choices. I had hoped to have this up and going by now, but unfortunately other matters intervened. I hope to get it going for the autumn, maybe with separate threads for Munster, Leinster and Ulster.
I cannot promise that this will materialise. I am simply putting you as hurling followers on notice so that you can keep an eye out for it if it happens.

I thgink the the innovation works and I think that Deise_abu shuld get the 4 points but that from next eyar on you shouldn't be able to predict the same team in 2 positions like that.
