For the first time in history the Giro starts outside of Europe. The first stage is a short ITT in West Jerusalem and it's an interesting one, quite technical and with some gradients (although the profile is inflated, you can find some 4-5% here and there). All in all is quite a nice prologue, where maybe some significant gaps can be made.

    **Breaking News** :D:D
Chris Froome encountered the first setback in his bid for the Giro d'Italia title before the race had even begun, as the Team Sky rider crashed while carrying out a recon of the opening-day time trial course on Friday.

Some amount of crashing going on. Must be a tricky circuit.

Maybe CF wont be able to win it now as he's injured so there's no issue with stripping him of it once the other matter is concluded....

John on the Velocast preview had an interesting theory that Froome would be trying to recreate the conditions to replicate the AAF in Giro ahead of the Tour, so might have even bigger repercussions.

1.Froome is at his best when ill :D

    2. Theory does not stand up as Giro conditions very different to Spain in autumn
