Hi could someone recommend a decent camera for taking good close up pictures. I have spiderlings (baby tarantulas) that start at 1cm but I'm not happy with the pictures from my phone (s8)

If I could get something for €500 or less it would be awesome. Also what lenses would be best?

    Thanks in advance

Edit title was meant to say details

this is all about the lens, less about the camera. unfortunately macro lenses tend to be a little bit more expensive.

best bet would be to borrow a DSLR with standard lens, and see if that meets your needs, without buying a specialist lens.

if you do need to get a macro lense, the tamron in the link above seems to be in stock in conns for €250 secondhand (though they don't say what mount) - you could pick up a secondhand DSLR for that price.

the nikon listed at #1 is €320 in conns. obviously you could get it cheaper online; but if you were buying in conns, you could ask them to do a deal on a secondhand body with the new lens?

an example; this shot was taken with a nikon 35mmf1.8, which is a typical prime (i.e. non-zoom) lens for nikon's consumer DSLRs. the camera is ten years old - this was as close as i could get while staying in focus - it's the same shot; the closer one is simply a crop to show more of the detail.

There are adapters to do macro or zoom photography on your phone.
If you're not into camera gear, and you don't want to go spending lots of money, that might be your best bet.

Going for a dSLR might be overkill of you're not going to use it again.

If that is the route you want to go, there are plenty of options. It sounds like you're looking for fast, though.
Maybe make a visit to a camera store near you that sells used gear and get their help choosing among what they have?
