Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Any team that spends £250m on Neymar, based on what we seen him do in the WC, needs their heads checked

He's as talented as Messi or near enough but his mentality has been exposed by his move to PSG and since.

He doesn't have anything like the emotional maturity of seasoned winners like Ronaldo. He couldn't possibly replace him, other than for marketing purposes.

Another Brazilian wonderboy, another career that'll peter out before the player's thirty. Some have been horribly unlucky with injuries, mental health problems, while Ronaldinho just didn't have the outlook of self sacrifice needed to maintain the very highest standards, but Neymar must be the most pointless and stupid example of self-sabotage of them all.

Vestegaard (Danish CB) apparently the tallest player at the WC, is set for a medical at Southampton after an £18m fee was agreed with Mönchengladbach

Sounds like someone Vince McMahon would sign.
The Paulinho deal is loan with an option to buy as well. Barca better pray they do as nobody would pay half that for him anywhere else in the world.

It’s an obligation not an option.. says in their press release that the “must purchase” the player

I don't think he is. The way Messi shoots past 3 players with ease is something to behold and nobody does it like him. The closest I've seen is the way Hazard does it.

Neymar just uses his pace....and when he doesn't have that because of injury like at this world cup, he barely dribbled past anyone. I've been a big admirer of him in the past but the more and more I see of him the more I think that if you take away the lightning speed....he's half the player. Guys like Messi and Ronaldo can still do it without the road runner speed.

I wouldnt pay that mad money for him anyway. I'd rather go get Hazard for half that. Maybe even a third.

It might have been about playing in a top league the season before a World Cup?

Neymar is frustrating. He has bags of talent, shoots well off both feet, scores and assists like it is nothing and when he's not up his own arse and trying tricks just so that 12 year olds on Youtube will rave over him he approaches the game well and has a brain. He really should take a leaf out of Ronaldo's book though and forget about diving for free kicks and forget about the stupid tricks and actually play ball. I'm not sure who was responsible for Ronaldo changing his act up, presumably Ferguson had a part to play plus his own self-realisation but someone really needs to tell Neymar to pack it in. I'd say he probably has a tonne of yes men around him though and with his status and price tag I think it'd be hard to get through to him. You then have Brazilian legends defending him at every moment. Mbappe is 7 years younger but often plays much more maturely than Neymar and picks his moments to do tricks.

I'm not sure a move to Madrid will sort him out either. Regardless he's had a very good career, he could still peter away and likely become Brazil's all time top scorer and collect a few more league titles wherever he goes. There is so much more in him though which is the damn shame about his antics.

Jorginho could be on the way to Chelsea instead of City.

Gotta laugh at the narrative that players don't go to City for money, you'd swear by reading it that the lads joining City for mega bucks are playing for free.

Or that they go to any other club but city and will struggle to make ends meet.

If he is going to Chelsea, it's on a nice and fat contract.

No shock there he has signed for a team at his level. Not good enough for a top 6 team.

West Ham ready to smash their transfer record with the £40 million signing of Felipe Anderson.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,746 ✭✭✭BullBlackNova

£40 million for Felipe Anderson... Wasn't he being talked about as a £50/60m target for Man United/Liverpool a few seasons back?

Is this an absolute steal for West Ham or has he struggled along a bit recently?

Everton had a good season last season. Replicating that will be a good return.

Yep we won as many trophies as Liverpool so we were delighted with our season.

Jean Michel Seri going to FULHAM!!

Very random, considering he was heavily linked with Arsenal & Barcelona last summer.

Doesn't Seri have a disease that means he struggles to train or play in cold weather? No idea why an English club would want a player like that no matter how good he is

Ingrown toenails apparently. At least if he signed for a richer English club he could buy himself a pair of bionic feet and instantly solve that problem.

Or just a few packets of Scholl clips and a pair of balls.

    Chilblains. They can be managed

Torreira is officially an Arsenal player and will wear the number 11 shirt next season. Good business from Arsenal and Emery. He'll do very well for them and is exactly the type of player they need.

The twitterverse is going wild with the news that Ronaldo to Juve is done and will be announced this evening.

€105m transfer, €30m per year, 4 year deal seems to be the consensus.

Benzema would be about right for this Chelsea - very expensive wages and probably somewhat past it.

Always thought Ronaldo would go home to Manchester. Few handy leagues in Italy and maybe drive Juventus to a CL. Good move. Better than PSG.

This is the best bit of business in the history of sport from Real Madrid.

Bought at 24 for 80 million, sold as 33 for 25 million profit. Nuts.

Bought for €94m, sold for €105m. Agree with your point though. Still great business.

Madrid to make a statement now. Hazard, De Gea and a high profile midfielder (not really sure who though) to appease the fans.

Presumably Kovacic will fetch 50m and perhaps Benzema will get another 50m or so. James will probably leave for another 50m or so. 250m will definitely get one of Neymar/Mbappe/Salah, 200m probably enough. The 200m paid for Neymar last year was insanity and there's no real indication that prices this summer will be as crazy as last summer. That'll get your landmark signing.

Another 100m or so for one of Kane/Hazard and then another 100m for De Gea doesn't leave them too steep in the red.
