Worm. But he did the same to move to Chelsea, and his behaviour while here has been the same. After his worst season too(albeit a strong WC), at least he'll have the pleasure of getting megged by Messi 3 times in a game more often now.

Lord have mercy if Jack Butland is actually the top target.

Heard Cillessen and Rico at Seville, and the Lazio goalie are being looked at

City would be a silly move, unless he's gonna play in Fernandinho's position but he's not that kind of player far as i know

He'll still be behind lots of established players

Wolfsburg have pulled off one of the bargains of the summer getting Jerome Roussillon for €8m. He was one of the best left-backs in France last season. Would have suited a lot of Premier League clubs and I'd have thought him worth twice what he went for.
Real pain in the hole the way Uniteds summer has gone. Best finish in the league since SAF time and completely fluffed it.

The signings should have been done early, at least earlier than the last few days of a window to actually allow the new players to have some pointless games getting to know their new teammates ( I could give a **** about performances or results in pre season, they are fitness exercises and getting time on the field together for new teammates and thats all they ever will be besides commercial exertions)

With some of the mistakes made in the last number of years I shouldn't be surprised at what has happened but I am. I'm shocked that this situation has been allowed to happen.

Serious questions need to be asked about the direction the club is going, what the actual aims are. Becoming the new Arsenal isn't going to sit well with the United fanbase (or any self respecting fan base) The areas that needed improvement have been obvious for so long that with a world cup summer and shorter window the eye should have been firmly on the ball and it has been dropped. It doesn't matter what happens between now and the end of the window either, the team is going to be starting the season hamstrung.

Toby? Maguire? Mina? Whoever the target was they should be at the club by now, to go into the new season with Shaw and Young as full backs and sacrificing the right side of the pitch offensively again is just ridiculous. Jose will ultimately take the blame if things go pear shaped quickly and criticism of him is valid in some areas but I feel cheated by the club going in to this season already and that is not just down to him.

We will be playing catch up from the start now and given the gap to City last season giving them a headstart is unforgivable.

I can't believe how bad the recruitment has been. Thought there would have been 3 more players in by now.

Hate to say it but as things stand I don't see United making the top four. Unless there's an unlikely Champions League challenge I see this season being a train wreck tbh.

I wouldn't go overboard about it, I would be concerned about not mounting a title challenge which is what I want. Top 4, meh, barring your stereotypical Mourinho third season that we hear so much about I don't think that's in much danger. Not guaranteed naturally but the team was comfortably better than 90% of the league last season and arsenal Spurs etc have not strengthened to any extent that I'd worry about them.

Top 4 will be city united Liverpool and one of Spurs or Chelsea depending on how they go with their new manager imo. Spurs failure to strengthen the squad might catch them out. Arsenal have a lot to prove and I doubt anybody else is going to break through the pack over 38 games.

The problem for me is not about getting top 4, it's about mounting a real title challenge.

Fernandinho didn't play in the role he plays now when he joined City and it is likely Kovacic could learn that role under Pep's guidance but I do agree. Kovacic would be a good buy to replace Gundogan but when you see Bernardo Silva play as well as he did yesterday then there's no need for Kovacic when only 2 out of De Bruyne, Silva, B. Silva and Gundogan can play there.

Pep hinted they are trying to make a "special" signing, but I am not sure what midfielder that could be. Kovacic has good potential and he seems to be a bit of a fan favourite but he's played nowhere near enough games to be considered a special player.

Liverpool Echo running with it too. He any good?

Apparently Newcastle are now withholding bonuses for players so they've refused some media commitments.

At this point I can only assume Ashley is trying to instigate a suicide via Geordie assasination.

Slowest Brazilian in the world. Won't add much in my opinion. Decent free signing all the same.

Bernard is a cracking free kick taker, very good all-around player too if a little inconsistent.

Agree fantastic for free. Was quality in the champs league against city lastnyear. Surprised there wasnt a queue for him tbh.

He's an excellent player, it's the physicality that has always been his problem. I remember Tim Vickery raving about him five or 6 years ago. Only really seen him in champions league since he came to Europe but an excellent free transfer

Some funny on the Twitter rumours, Barca offer 50mil + two of their deadwood club for Pogba.

Poor oul Gomes getting offered around like a prostitute this summer if true.

How much is Pogba worth do people think? He'd a good world cup but if he was to leave United now he'd be seen as one of the biggest flops in the history of the league. 50m+ those two lumps might be disrespectful but they can't be getting much more. If they got offered 100m they should personally escort him to the Camp Nou. Making a profit on Pogba after the sh*te impact he's made would be genius.

He's been a flop at Utd, but decent for France at the world cup, so in this market **** knows.

He's got ages on his contract
    We paid 90m
    World Cup winner
Our only creative, world class outfield player
Three days left in the window
    We don't need cash

To be blunt, anything under €150m should be ignored.

Not that I agree with the way prices have gone, but I think he's easily worth €150-200 million in today's market. He's just after winning the world cup and was an important part of the win too. He's still pretty young and has a huge marketing profile which does affect these things.

Selling him for €100 million with no replacement would be beyond foolish.

Barca to offer £50m and Dembele for Pogba next.

He hasn't been as good for United as he was at Juve though. A buying club would be wary of it. What version of Pogba would they get?

You won't be selling him now though. Maybe next summer.

Ignoring his world cup form, he's been a spectacular flop at United. Don't think he's worth much more than 100m

Barca definitely want Dembele off there books so I wouldn't be surprised to see an offer like that.

Given our dire need for a RW player, it would be more tempting.

But we'd need to go and k ow we could get an SMS or a #10

    Someone to actually replace Pogba.

Meh, he is still pretty much the same player. He isn't your main man while building but he can be your cherry on top of an already made cake.

Fancy him to have a good year this year actually. The midfield is not so heavily reliant on him creatively with the addition of Fred. The caveat being if they click of course, but another quick thinker with good feet who can carry the ball forward should help him by letting him influence in the final third.

Would you take a straight swap for both? Pogba was 90m and Dembele was 120m (I think).

With 10 pl assists last season from CM, shocking form

Nah, I'd rather Pogba than just Dembele. Pogba has a far higher ceiling and immediate impact.

Don't forget in the most negative uber defensive team the Premier League has ever seen! Couldn't have scored many more than 10 goals sure could they?

Not a bad deal tbh. Especially if United are looking at buying Mina anyway. 30-40 million seems to be the price quoted for him, so they would be making their money back on Pogba.

They paid €140 million for Coutinho, so this seems about right for a player on Pogba’s level. Main obstacle I think is it being so late in the window. A straight swap for Dembele and leaving United to pursue Boateng might be the better option.

Spurs have refused to complete the deal until they have brought in a replacement.

To be honest if talented players like Pogba want to play football they would be better getting out of Man U as long as Jose is there.

Well any 'top top player' who wishes to express themselves with the ball rather than just pick up a fat wage would surely be looking at Man Utd's sheer lack of joie de vivre under Mourinho.
