Think they had to sign him after his loan.

Where are AC Milan getting all the money from weren't their Chinese owners declared bankrupt earlier this year?

Taken over by Elliott, a hedge fund. Seem to have a bit more cash now.

Where are AC Milan getting all the money from weren't their Chinese owners declared bankrupt earlier this year?

The Chinese guy who bought Milan did so using $430million of his own (or other people's money) and the remaining $300 million was a loan from Elliot which he had to pay back + interest.

He missed two payments and defaulted on the debt and Elliot took control of an asset valued at +$730million dollars, with its debts having been cleared, for less than half the value. They've decided to stabilise the asset for 2-3 years before selling, hoping returning to the champions league in that time will increase the value further. They've increased the clubs capital by $50million, which was further increased by the sales of Kalinic, Locatelli, Bonucci, Niang, Lapadula, and Gomez.

The reason all of the signings have been made as loans with obligations to buy instead of outright buying players if to spread the costs and avoid FFP penalties.

Li is suing them too but they will rip him apart. I hear they are ruthless on the law front. They have been involved with Lille too but have started to withdraw now.

They plan on working on Milan for 3 years before selling on.

It must be scary having your club owned by a largely anonymous hedge fund. I presume there are premier league rules around how you dispose of assets otherwise the Glazers would have shipped OT to China by now.
In fairness the larger PL clubs seem pretty well run as businesses.

I dunno, if I was a Milan fan I'd be happier knowing that Elliot owned the club than some anonymous Chinese guy with dubious wealth he can't seem to actually access to pay his debts.

How he was ever cleared to buy the club is amazing, the man is a total chancer.

They have nothing to strip of intrensic value really, the club is basically just a brand. It's in their interest to build the brand and make as much profit as possible by selling it on.

I think they will be fine this year but yea, I'd expect there is something in the contract alright.

    Jaysus, Milan with another two.

Fresh on the heels of Bakayoko they have agreed a fee of €19 + Carlos Bacca with Villareal for Samu Castillejo, while they'll pay Geona €14 + €4 million in bonuses for Diego Laxalt.

Both are in Milan tonight and have medicals tomorrow.

Serious width and pace being added to Milan's left side, something they lacked a bit last season.

Loads of reports today that PL clubs could vote again to move the window closure back to August 31st

    Disaster :pac:

Well it would of worked fine if they had decided not to implement in a world cup year.

Would expect his massive wage almost acts as a release clause in and of itself, as there's no way they could afford it in the championship.. but the club is protected from a set figure if they did have to sell at least.

And even as it is, they all knew what they had to do. Plenty of clubs managed to get their business done. I really like this 'teams set in stone' before a ball is kicked thing.

And as you say, they'll have an extra 6 weeks effectively next season without the world cup. No point changing back.

21 year old Schalke defender Thilo Kehrer has moved for some 37mil to PSG. Surprising one there, at least to me.

Brighton have loaned Percy Tau to Union Saint Gilloise (Belgian second division side) for the season,

Tony Bloom owns both clubs and apparently there was an issue with his work permit for the UK but still a surprise that he's not being loaned to a higher ranked side

a big boost to union saint gilloise though

Union Saint Gilloise were destroyed at the weekend by a George Hirst inspired OH Leuven - another one who is causing controversy with two club partnerships / shared owners - out of contract at Sheffield Wednesday, Leicester wanted to sign him but couldn't agree fee / compensation, so he goes to their sister club abroad (less compensation due)

Hardly set in stone when they can still buy in January... Might as well have free reign until then as far as I'm concerned as players heads can still be turned mid season, see Sanchez last season. Though I don't think he remembered to turn it back given his performances...

Also not set in stone as they sign players but they can still lose players. Just seems idiotic in practise as the other leagues are not doing the same.

If all leagues closed at the same time id be all for it for the record, I think the window closing before a competitive ball is kicked is how it should be.

It's a good idea to have a squad set before season starts but no good when you start losing players to other clubs outside UK.

Yep Italy following the same model, close before a ball is kicked. I agree with the principle of it to be honest, but will always be tricky as not every season starts the same weekend.

Marchisio has left Juve, never the same since his cruciate injury. Still a good signing for a host of clubs.

Yeah I think they are on the right track.

The best time to get the window totally in sync will probably be the year before/after the Qatar WC. All leagues will have to start & finish earlier & later so maybe that is the time to sync them up. Everyone start mid-late August or something.

It would, imo, be idiotic to want to change it but wait for every league in the world to fall in line.

Makes no sense that you can lose players but are unable to replace them .This was supposed to be for squad to have stability.

Clubs often don't have much option than to sell if a player wants out.Leave a player to rot in the reserves or leave them to be a toxic presence around the club.
Sometimes it best to cut your losses but at least before this you could replace them.

Whos to know who may move before the transfer window closes. EPL clubs willingly gave away some of their power.

So a player suddenly becomes a toxic presence after the PL window closes but before the others do? Im not buying that.

If you wanted someone out and time to replace them, clubs had all summer to sort it (and a lot of them did).

And so far, we havent seen any adverse effects to closing early. Who are you thinking of? Pogba? Not gonna happen this summer window. Cant see City selling anyone, cant see Pool selling anyone of significance, cant see Arsenal selling anyone they dont want to. Outside of that, im not seeing any chat of significant players leaving any PL club.

I understand where you are coming from, but i dont think the effect you are talking about is actually going to take place.
