Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Fairly bizarre one that.

    Makes something resembling sense.

You'd get a guy who wouldnt kick up that much of a fuss on the bench. He knows the league and has played in sides used to directish type football. Reasonable enough price and someone who's worked with Mourinho before.

Bit of a headcase alright but all considered seems to make sense

Arnautovic and the phrase 'wouldn't kick up too much of a fuss' would rarely be used together :pac:

Garth Bail to probably Man Utd as that's Ed Woodward to a tree.

That's what happens when you get rid of/lose Natalie Sawyer and Kirsty Gallagher. That station is going downhill rapidly!

It will go under the radar but Leipzig did very nice business buying CB Nordi Mukiele from Montpellier. They had the second best defence in Ligue 1 after PSG and he was a big part of that. Only 20 as well. They know the French market well.

RBs Salzburg and Leipzig seem to have one of the best scouting/analytics networks going.

    Doubt it..

Might see more minutes with no Payet in squad though I'd say.

It’s not really, we need a back up to Lukaku with the same type of style who will be happy to sit on the bench.

Not that I agree with his signing but we need someone in there and can’t be splashing out 50m on a back up

It is given Mourinho's comments about him in the past. He's not exactly set the world on fire consistently since then too which was one of the gripes.

He'll resign, get the France job after the world cup and then become the successor to Florentino Perez.

I think he'd be a great buy, guaranteed to be worth a lot more after one season in the Premier league. He has the football brain and the skills to use it.

Don't think he can. You have to be a Spainish citizen.
And be mega wealthy! Wealthier that he likely is.

Tbo himself said he'd decide after the WC, TBH, if his heart is in Madrid, hes got two choices and Real need a GK far more than Atletico.

Assuming Oblak doesnt leave Atletico. :o

I really don’t think anything’s changed. We’ll find out after the WC. He’ll wait to see how the squad is strengthened. He won’t be going to Pool regardless of what happens

One thing for sure is the goalkeeper transfer record is going to be broken a few times this summer.

It wont be for Courtois, he only has a year left on his deal.

Could still be broken for him. What is the current record?

    Still Buffon, 33m I think.

It could and should be beaten once a very good GK moves.

    Ederson surpassed that last summer.

    Buffons was higher in Euro.

I imagine due to the currency difference at the time as it was nearly £33m or €52m.

Ederson went for £35m or €40m.

£35m breaks it Chelsea could still get that for him.

Or he sets it in motion.

Courtois, Olblak, Alisson, De Gea all moving could well go for over £35m easy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

The top 20 hoghset transfer fees paid for GKS include Mignolet, Begoic and Bravo and a lot of GKs from the late 90s/early 00s.

Mainly because they spent so long at one club, rarely moving and the best one usually play for one club way passed their prime.

This summer should see at least 1 being sold that break the record.

We could push for it but Ateltico or Real could easily hold out 12 months and get him for free then or call Chelseas bluff and wait until the last days of the transfer window.

Ideally Courtois would sign on for one more year and then we could sell him next year for a huge amount but his kids are in Madrid with their mother so he'll probably end up there and more likely at Real.

    De Gea to Real
    Hart to United
    Courtious to Athelico
    Oblak/Allison to Liverpool
    Butland to Chelsea

    Everyone is happy ;)

Correct. £34.7m. Then comes (sterling prices)

    Buffon 32.6m
    De Gea 18.3m
    Bravo (shudder!) 17.1m
    Peruzzi and Neuer, both 15.7m
    Cillesen 12.8m
    Oblak 12.7m
Cech, Begovic and Forster, all of them 10m

Honestly, it might be Karius's wish to leave. Hard to come back from something like that after getting death threats etc. Keeping is such a confidence based thing, any self doubt creeps in and you are goosed.
