Cashing cheque without bank account in Ireland

Hello, I am writing because my spouse had a job with Google in Dublin, but he was let go after training, therefore we didn't even get to the point where he had an address or a bank account in Ireland. Can he still cash the cheques made to his name for that period of time? Thank you
