Absolutely delighted for Sam, he knew he had to change something to beat Viviani and just shadowed him all the way.

    Deadly!

    Sam for Maglia! (Rosso)

Hmm, that works better with maillot... is he doing the TDF this year?

    Great win by Sam!

In Kelly’s words “ ....to come past Viviani, you have to be on a super day”

Amazing to hear the Carrick accent back accepting the plaudits on Grand Tour!

I honestly didn't think Bennett could beat Viviani in a straight sprint, but delighted to be proved wrong.

His approach and timing was immaculate.

So having spent a wet Friday morning in Malahide, thought I would watch some IPL, and then a bit of football, before switching over to Eurosport to check out what had happened in today's stage

Delighted to have stayed out of the forum, and even more delighted for Sam.

Not often that I can say you and I can claim a little bit of this one Rob - it's your belief in him that persuaded me to have a similar belief:)

Still buzzing after todays stage and i see that Velon have released some power numbers for the Stage 7 sprint and the speeds and watts in the last 250-300m are crazy. The first four are generally lighter sprinters of similar height and weight

    Final 280m
    - Time: 16"

    - Power: 1090W
    - Max power: 1480W

Elia Viviani (Quick-Step Floors), second place:
    - Time: 17"
    - Speed: 66.3km/h
    - Top speed: 69.8km/h
    - Cadence: 111rpm
    - Power: 1075W
    - Max power: 1343W

Niccolò Bonifazio (Bahrain Merida Pro Cycling Team), third place:
    - Time: 18"
    - Speed: 65.3km/h
    - Top speed: 69.0km/h
    - Cadence: 114rpm
    - Power: 1029W
    - Max power: 1382W

Sacha Modolo (EF Education First-Drapac p/b Cannondale), fourth place

    - Time: 18’’
    - Speed: 64.1km/h
    - Top speed: 66.2km/h
    - Cadence: 111rpm
    - Power: 1129W
    - Max power: 1341W

Great work by Bennett to keep Viviani's wheel the whole way through. Had to fight hard, great win for him. Hopefully he can get another win now

What are the chances of Sam now targeting the points jersey? Viviani might not make it all the way to the finish. Should Sam target the intermediates in the hilly stages to make a go at it? One more stage win and he is right back in it
