    Would it? They'd get smashed.

good for the finances, of another round

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,255 ✭✭✭joeysoap

I hope City and Rovers get through. Pats are gone I’m afraid.

The more through the merrier. There’s enough people knocking league without us joining in.

Niederkorn score to retake the lead on aggregate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,249 ✭✭✭ Milena Bald Top

    2-1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,957 ✭✭✭kksaints

Equaliser on the night from Clifford. Only need 2 more now! COYSS!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,956 ✭✭✭✭Omackeral

Rovers doing well. 2-2 from first leg with a pair of away goals in the bag. 45 minutes left to get through now.

Lost 2-1. Out 4-1 on aggregate. Not too disappointed with tonight's result as I feared a real thrashing. Quite simply they were just better than us.

Very good win for City- shíte defending in the first half last week and Shepp's penalty miss looks like it came back to haunt us.

A real pity as they were a vang average side who will get destroyed by Rangers-a similar fate would have been bestowed on us to be fair.

Nice to score 2 in Europe- doesnt happen too often.

Poor goal to give away there!! Rovers looking good up until that

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,029 ✭✭✭tastyt

    Shocking defending

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,029 ✭✭✭tastyt

Jack Byrne really is a class above anything on the pitch. Can't see him hanging around much longer, especially if they lose this

  • Registered Users Posts: 967 ✭✭✭Zico !

Well done city first win in Europe in years.

Looks like everyones heading out . All the rest of Europe have been modernly developing the game from grass roots up for the last 20 years at least . Time has stood still in good ole Ireland. FAI on a jolly . Frustrating stuff .

Super link up between Finn and Byrne. Fantastic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,335 ✭✭✭sonic85

Didn't think Rovers were going to score - really nice finish there from Byrne. Delighted they were able to equalise

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,994 ✭✭✭c.p.w.g.w

Carr luckly not give away a free for a push in the build up to the goal

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,029 ✭✭✭tastyt

Any chance rovers can close this out and not let in a typical league of Ireland in Europe stupid late goal?

    Decent attack, good goal.

Prize money is €240k for this round + €260k for the next, UEFA will probably keep at least €10k of it due to those dopes going on the pitch twice.

    Limassol next. Well done

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,740 ✭✭✭✭MD1990

    500k prizemoney for Rovers.

Jack Byrne was brillant. That performance will get some European clubs looking at him.

€500,000 I think the eir sport commentator said.

Trip to Limassol in the height of Summer, can think of worse ways to spend a few days.

People who only watch football on telly are really missing out. I am weak after that match. My heart is in my shoes. Insane. I am a very happy man tonight.

It'll be a lot more than that. Dundalk were fined around €8000 a few years back for lads standing behind the goals.

Delighted for ya. I have a dislike of Rovers as a Bohs man but I'll respect any match going Hoop more than some fella who just sits in the pub watching United and calls Man City the noisy neighbours without a hint of self awareness.

We see things they'll never see.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,740 ✭✭✭✭MD1990

no idea why they got Cummins.

He was awful. Needs to be sent back to Cork from the loan.

Fans behind the goal probably cost the club maybe a 100k fine. Uefa will come down hard on that.

    Thanks. :)

Oh I'm the same. As much as I dislike Bohs, I always respect and appreciate a league of Ireland fan.

Rovers are going to do my heart in, don't like making it easy on ourselves at all.

Jack Byrne is different gravy but McEneff and Pico played blinders too. Nice to see O'Neill get his first goal.

Good to see some of the Dublin based Dundalk contingent at the game too along with a few other LOI players.

Unlucky Cork nearly pulling it off, that penalty miss must really sting now and a respectable result for Pats.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,255 ✭✭✭joeysoap

Dundalk were fined €25k for fans waving Palestinian flags, on the refs report.
Got it reduced to €15k. Depends on referees report, mightn’t be too bad.

UEFA are weird with that. Anything political gets come down on much harder than other stuff you'd think would be more serious.

How the fûck can a football club get fined because a fan or fans were waving a flag of a particular country or state. If I go down to Dalymount with a Mexican flag ? There are tri colors at practically every Premiership game.

Suppose Israel are UEFA members and Palestine are not. Might be a small factor in it. I saw some of the Dundalk lads had the Palestine flag in Riga last night too.
