not a lot of interest so here goes

nunes probably wins tough and all pennington is.

I hope cooper beats dern a lot more than I did before the weigh ins.

lineker kelleher for me could be fotn

oleynik albini certainly won't be fotn and neither will belfort machida
albini looked awful v aa last time out, machida wins this if it goes longer than 3 minutes

gastelum tends to come up short against the elite and I think he will do so against souza...souza by sub for me
if gast does win then he'll probably be another fight away from a shot so its huge to say the least...back down the ladder otherwise

hopefully it'll be good card, looking at it and just not knowing whether it'll be good or bad myself.

    cracking finish (possible pun intention)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,937 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

impressive by ramos, 8 wins and 6 by sub now
hein never been subbed before either

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,593 ✭✭✭theteal

Did Hein’s jaw get dislocated there? Looked very strange

As freaked out as I was by that, the transition to the back should have had Michael Bolton music attached it was that sensual

albini can't be as bad as his last fight surely?
    he barely moved at all

oleynik 55 wins and 43 by sub, mad stuff
probably past it but if he doesn't stand in front of albini he must have
    a great chance here

Oleiknik takes him down and submits him first round.

I hope Vitor gets clocked good, often and early here. Unfortunately, he’s fighting Machida who is as cautious as Woodley these days. :(

HAHA YES! Channeling his inner Anderson Silva there, highlight reel KO! :D

delighted that vitor is finally calling it a day

Nice overhand from Dern, didn’t think she’d have any success in the standup. When it went to the ground, it was never going to last another 30 seconds.

    Didn't expect that
    What a fight!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,405 ✭✭✭Lukker-

That was the right decision imo

Big win for Kelvin, delighted for him. Really could’ve gone either way though and I fully expected Jacare to get the nod with it being in Brazil. If he could only make 170 consistently he’d be a real contender. He’s doing very well at middleweight though all the same, but it isn’t the ideal weight for him.

Gastelum vs Bobby Knuckles would be a good fight

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,657 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

4 fights up in a accumulator, 5th and final pick was Jacare. Ugh. Thanks Kelvin

wrong div for kelvin no doubt about it, hard to see him ever troubling romero or whittaker
I thought he'd beat weidman when they fought, it was never his right div after that

You never knw with Kelvin. His takedown defence and defence on the ground have definitely come on though. He doesn’t look as out of place with the bigger guys.

Whittaker also fought at WW though. Jacare is one of the stronger guys too in MW. He might struggle with Romero’s wrestling though. The shots certainly don’t trouble him.

Looks like a complete mismatch in there and it definitely isn’t a case of Rocky pacing herself for five rounds. Nunes has just completely outclassed her in the first round.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,129 ✭✭✭finglashoop

    This is pony

Corner should of took her out when she said she was done

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,517 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

That shouldn’t have even gone to a fifth round. When your fighter says she’s done, that’s it.

Anyway, great performance from Nunes. Hard to see another good contender at 135, she really has to move up and fight Cyborg soon or any buzz she’s generated since battering Ronda will evaporate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,026 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

This is disgraceful, blood pissing out of her at the end. Her coaches should never be allowed in the octagon again.
She clearly said she was done and they didn't pull her out.
They could have thrown a towel in early in the last round when it was clear she had nothing left, if telling you before the round wasn't enough.

Pennington was pathetic in the cage.

Mackenzie needs to lose the fake Brazilian accent.

Pennington was pathetic in the cage.

That's extremely harsh. She was outclassed and outmatched but she didn't shy away from anything. She probably shouldn't have been in there, but Amanda has cleaned out 135. The only fight to make is Cyborg now.

I find the internet's autists obsession with her accent so strange

Have you read any of his other posts in this forum? I wouldn't bother arguing

for everyone saying her corner was wrong to send her back in for the 5th round. I can see your point but that is her coaches job. Imagine if it had went the other way and she clipped nunes and she won. would everyone still be bad mouthing the coach?

If it was a fight between 2 men and the same thing happened would there still be such an outcry about it?

Overall Amanda looked great against her but she is on another level its hard to see anyone in her division beating. cyborg seems like the only fight that makes sense

one of the highlights for me was the spinning heal kick dos santos landed on strickland:eek::eek:

And if she really wanted out all she had to do was say it to the ref of tap the mat at any stage. Her coaches believed that in 5 minutes she could have won somehow and told her to believe in herself, if she didn't then it's on her to concede.

Yeah we don't know if thats something she does a lot and the corner know that. All fighters react differently in the corner. Ali asked to quit in the Liston 1 fight and in Manilla but was told no.

She was taking a hiding though and gave up at the end.

Still though, Nunes is unbeatable, apart from Cyborg.

I don't understand how anybody would not be outraged by what happened. The girl I a warrior and she tells them she is done. It's quite clear she was suffering, had no chance of winning and had a good chance of getting badly beaten up in the fifth round.
As it turned out she was badly bloodied at the end of the fight.

Those people in her corner should never be allowed to manage a fighter in the octagon again imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,405 ✭✭✭Lukker-

I do think the fact that she's a woman, has coloured people's judgement's a bit more. I think many would be more forgiving of the coaches if it was a man they were asking to finish the fight. Not a criticism either, just an observation. I'm also of the belief that they shouldn't have let her back out there, or at the very least had the towel thrown in much sooner in round 5.

Seems Nunes was fairly badly injured aswell.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,405 ✭✭✭Lukker-

Seemingly it wasn't broken nose either that was stopping Pennington, but that she could barely stand
