The over/under line on low blows is probably at double figures for this one.

I enjoyed that match. Nice ending

That was great. I’d like to see AJ turn heel again though, he’s a lot more entertaining outside of the actual wrestling with Gallows and Anderson by his side. Styles vs. Bryan in the main event of SummerSlam sells itself really.

Yeah I feel it would be an awful choice.
I'm worried they see it as a chance to keep Rousey and Jax protected from a clean loss or that after Carmella holding it for so long that they want a short reign this time.

Great selling from Ronda so far. It’s her second televised match and she already bumps better than a certain four times women’s champion.

Ronda 100 times better at wrestling than Carmella already

Welp, Bliss was definitely the wrong choice for the briefcase.

Edit- On the plus side I was kinda right, I guess :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,532 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

That was fcuking dumb. Waste of the briefcase, she could’ve made that really interesting but they threw it away just to get out of a bad booking situation.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,532 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

Like, what is their obsession with keeping a title around Alexa’s waist literally all the time? I’m probably her biggest fan here but this is waaaaaay too much.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,244 ✭✭✭lycan238

Guess this means either brand could have mens winner.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,270 ✭✭✭✭J. Marston

Eh, don't like but it's one thing less to pay attention to on Raw assuming they're giving Nia a rematch.

Carmella and Alexa are a real throwback to the bad old Diva days though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,532 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

Ah not Kofi. He’s good for a big spot in this match but I could’ve actually bought Big E winning it out, now I know Kofi isn’t winning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,244 ✭✭✭lycan238

Same will still watch it though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,532 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

Strowman being taken out at the beginning of a multi man match? Yeah he’s winning for sure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,154 ✭✭✭✭Neil3030

That match did a great job of getting Rousey over. Good simple story of size vs athleticsm, told very well. The cash in also keeps her chasing as she progresses in the ring.

Christ dare I say it..... Good booking by wwe?!?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,291 ✭✭✭ThePott

    Please not Strowman.

Kofi makes sense they need someone for aerial spots. They have enough big men in there without Big E.

Great MITB match, but Strowman is the last person who needed that win. Absolute shîte booking yet again.

Carmella and Asuka finish was painful. I understand it's unrealistic to expect someone's gimmick on NXT to be fully replicated on the main roster but some semblance of continuity would be good. The 3 count on the roll up would have been fine. Still....Elsworth's expressions cracked me up....the wormy bollox. :p

Strowman winning MITB.....meh. I assume this will be straightforward enough: Braun challenges Brock to a match at SS....Braun wins....Brock finally ****s off.

Bliss winning and successfully cashing in MITB....I waive my right to a rant on that one.

Would have liked to have seen Naka win.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,467 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Quickly watched a few matches on the way to the airport. Decent event overall. The Styles/Nak match was good, both MITB matches and the bliss cash in were class and I like Strowman with the case

Hopefully wwe do Brauns cash in right. I can see Lesner Losing at SS to Reigns but Strowman comes out and cashes in to win the title

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,466 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

if Braun calls Brock out for Summerslam and beats him in a straight up match to win the belt, then it is worth him having the briefcase. there is no other reason to put it on him.

Alexa's win was a waste of a briefcase. but if you're going to waste it, then it was a good moment tonight. and it was a way of getting Ronda out of that match without giving her the title, have her lose or do a dumb DQ.

Ellsworth's return was nice. Though Asuka losing is beyond fúcking stupid. Charlotte's win at Wrestlemania is rendered utterly redundant. but sure, i forgot, WWE thinks it's audience can't remember back that far.

Reigns in the death spot. Glorious. it's meaningless, as he's probably getting Brock at fúcking Summerslam, with Braun probably fúcking capitalising on Roman beating Brock, but being dead. and so we have Roman/Braun post Summerslam with a heel Braun. ugh.

I never thought I'd say that I'm glad to see that back of an AJ/Nakamura feud, but I am. what a fúcking butchering of a feud.

    Writers are ruining this company.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,689 ✭✭✭sky88

Alexa cashing in and being champion again is just meh shes been pushed way too hard i mean shes just been pushed too strongly and was probably the least interesting woman to win mitb.

Braun just has to cash in on brock in a match no shenanigans just beat brock and send him packing anywhere but the wwe.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,788 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

I wouldnt have minded the Asuka/Carmella finish if it had been sped up massively. It felt like Asuka spent an hour staring at the masked figure, acting as if it was some haunting symbol of her past or something. It should have been done over the space of 10 seconds.

Figure appears, Asuka looks surprised but being the badass she is, fires a kick at it's head, knocks it down, mask comes off and it's Ellsworth. For a few SECONDS, Auska is confused, only to be caught in the roll up and pinned. That's about 20-30 seconds to sell it as a proper surprise. Unfortunately, they over did it's lenght, took 2 minutes to do it, and Asuka looked foolish. Thats not on her, mind. This happens constantly with faces being surprised by people at ringside. It's like "You're in a match, idiot, forget about the stranger and focus!"

    But the good....

I thought Ronda looked great in her match. She's easily beating expectations people had for her, and looks not just great but something different for the division.
I enjoyed the ending to Styles vs AJ. That low blow was a great payoff to an ok feud. Nakamura could do with a strong win somewhere though cause he's constantly lost in this feud. I'm eager to see who moves into feuds with Styles and Nakamura.
Bryan beat Cass clean, so I'd hope he goes in the direction of one of them. Bryan vs Nakamura, and Styles vs Joe would be two MASSIVE matches for Summerslam.
Brawn winning isn't unexpected but while it wasn't a shocking moment, I'm ok if the end point is him beating Brock.
Bliss having an armbar put on her by Ronda will be awesome, given that thing she can do with her arm.

I ended up losing interest when the women's MITB match was followed up by Reigns vs Jinder. Bliss really didn't need the case, she's spent most of the last two years being in the title picture, usually as the champ. I'm just tired of it now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,291 ✭✭✭ThePott

The stats for Bliss as champion are ludicrous. She has been in every title match for her brand since her debut aside from tonight where she cashed in.
Someone did the math on Reddit:

    Debut: July 26, 2016
= 692 Days on Active Roster (258 Days on SDL / 434+ Days on RAW)
WWE SDL Woman's Champion (x2) - 110 Days (Champion 42.64% While On SDL)
WWE RAW Woman's Champion (x3) - 335+ Days (Champion 77.19% While On RAW)
Total: Has Held RAW/SDL Woman's Championship for 64.31% of her main-roster career.

He also compared those to Reigns, Lesnar, Trish and Charlotte and no one is really close. I know there is variables in all these but come on.
It's ridiculous and I'm someone who generally likes Bliss

Same, him cashing in on Daniel Bryan immediately after he wins the title would’ve been perfect, even though Orton did the exact same thing to him a few years back. Big E was my second choice, he’s main event level in every sense but held back because he’s in a stable. They’re sleeping on him big time.

I don't even need to watch MITB to know this is a fact. Amazing that he was employed by WWE previously as you would never guess the way he conducts himself. Commentary in WWE is not easy but he goes out of his way to make an ass out of himself so often I'm not sure if it's intentional or not now :/

this can't be said often enough, and sorry if some of you are bored reading it.

    f*** these writers.
    f*** corporate wrestling.

much of the wrestling was excellent on this show. the WWE have some of the very best talent in the world, capable of tearing the house down on any given night - male and female. The women's MITB match was verging on Match Of The Night. AJ/Nak, from a pure wrestling POV, was perfectly good. The men's MITB was extremely entertaining work.

but everything is being destroyed by the writing. the vacuous, nonsensical 'storytelling' that has infected corporate wrestling.

for instance, imagine hating a f***ing AJ/Nak feud. like, honestly. imagine it. imagine someone telling you at the start of the year that we would get a 4 match series between these 2, and that we'd be begging for it to end.

    f*** you Vince.

    Zayn/Lashley. just f*** you Vince.
Nia as champion, face one week, heel the next. can't understand what she is at all. f*** you Vince.
Asuka losing to Carmella, rendering Charlotte's win at WM pointless. f*** you Vince.

the only reason I can't complain Roman winning again LOL is that it was against Jinder in the death spot. Jinder is poison, and Roman should be destroying him. it should be a murder sequence lasting about 90 seconds. who knows, Roman might actually get cheered if they do that? but then you wouldn't have a 'story' would you? f*** you Vince.

just f*** off with all the stories really. If I want a soap opera, I'll watch that s*** elsewhere. i don't want it on my wrestling show.

Jax had Ronda in a bear clutch at one stage and Coach came out with the line that this suits Ronda as it gives her time to 'rest'.

Cole and Corey rightly hammered him for that one

Unbelievable that someone who's been in wrestling for so long could come out with such a dumb comment.

Most "bad commentators" can be ignored, cause they are bland or don't add much.

Coach actively takes away from the product. When he made that bear hug call, my entire focus was on trying to figure out what the **** he was talking about, rather than the match. My entire attention was thinking what a bloody idiot he was.

It's clear from last night that Alexa bliss even though she isn't especially that good in the ring seems to be on Vinces good books. Ronda is a natural at this wrestling business. The only thing she's lacking(and there's nothing she can do about it) is experience. She bumps Better then some of the other women. Nia jax played her part well.

Roman vs jinder I think I compared them to Stan stasiak. I've things in the shed most interesting than either of them.

DB is just so good even when he has to face big cass(he's like a less talented test)

Carmella tries her best but I don't know about her in ring wise. The screaming is off putting.

The WWE title match was fine and that punt at the end and finish looked good visually.

Men's MITB. Nothing wrong with bar me not thinking Braun needed the case.

His unification match with Edge for the US/IC titles is still up there as one of my faves to rewatch.

My order of preference was Big E, Woods then Miz. Actually Miz cashing in on Byran after Byran won the title in a few months time setting up there fued actually would have been win win for WWE albeit most would expect Miz to cash in right after DB won title.

I actually think that he was trying to make a point but his sentence got lost between his brain and his mouth. I can only assume he meant it like the bear clutch was a 'rest' hold and it would give RR a chance to regroup albeit while in a submission.

I agree with the consensus on here that RR is selling better than most of the female roster and I have to say I am impressed with her so far.

Question for you folks on here. I'm putting it in spoiler tags just in case.
Can Braun cash in while Lesnar is not at raw thus ref gives Lesnar count to 10 to get to the ring or does Lesnar actually have to be there?
