Interesting places to visit

Myself and my OH are down in Kilkenny city for a few days to celebrate my birthday and I know the city well - I've been to the Castle before, Rothe House, the Cathederal, the design centre, Dunmore Cave, etc...

So is there anything in the county or within an hour's drive of the city that's a bit different and original and worth a visit? My OH in particular likes historic stately mansions.

Suggestions much appreciated!

Mount Congreve in Waterford! 40 min' max from Kilkenny!

Thanks for all the suggestions. My OH was sick in bed yesterday so I did a bit of exploring around the city and visited the new Medieval Mile museum. Excellent!

Today we drove to Waterford and did the Copper Coast, then up through the Comeraghs and over to Mount Juliet for a look and a coffee. Fantastic.

I love Kilkenny!:o
