Separation and renting

Hi, my husband informed me last month that he wants a separation. I have two children and currently on maternity leave due to return to work in september. We currently do not own a house and are renting. I am unable to earn enough to get a mortgage on my own. I am also living in an area a few hours from my family. Can anyone advise what may happen in this case where there is a separation however one parent can not afford to buy a house for the children. What are my options, thanks in advance

its pretty much the same as it is for a married couple who cannot afford to buy via a mortgage from the bank. You looking at affordable housing, assuming your income meets the requirements, or a council home which you can subsequently buy, or keep renting.
