The Sunday Songbrunch

This new event kicked off last Sunday in Bagots Hutton on Ormond Quay and will also run on the next two Sundays - 20 and 27 May. If it goes well (and the first one was great!) it will be extended into the Summer and hopefully will become a permanent fixture on the Dublin scene.

    So what is it?

It's a place for people who write songs, who sing songs or who just like listening to songs, to relax for a couple of hours, listening to original music and classic covers from some of Ireland's finest singer-songwriters while enjoying a brunch, a snack, a drink, a coffee or whatever takes their fancy. Admission is absolutely free, brunch specials are on offer and it's family-friendly - a great way to let your kids enjoy the experience of live music in a comfortable, intimate setting.

The Songbrunch is hosted by Tommy Keyes with Mark Moriarty. Every week there are two pre-booked featured performers, but other musicians in attendance are welcome to contribute a song, as time permits, and the Songbrunch will always finish with a short jam session.

In addition to a state of the art PA, there's always a piano at the disposal of musicians - usually a Roland digital piano but, failing that, the house onstage acoustic piano.

The featured slots for the May Songbrunches have been booked (May 20 features Luke Clerkin and Elga Fox, May 27 has Padraig MacMahon and Barry Jay Hughes) but anyone interested in doing a feature over the Summer (if it gets extended) might like to drop in to one of these sessions and do a song. There's also a Sunday Songbrunch Group on Facebook, which you can join so you'll get all the updates.
