Odd incident I saw this morning

Was on the 77a bus (upstairs) this morning. The bus was stopped for awhile at junction lights near Crumlin Shopping centre. Next minute I heard a bang against the bus and a teenager cyclists was on the ground.

Now its obvious the bike hit the bus but the next part was interesting. The cyclist was on the path holding his knee and rolling around like Ronaldo. The cyclist behind just went past him and up to the red lights. The next cyclist stopped, said a few words to the guy on the ground.

The guy on the ground got up and cycled away, not a bothered on him. So it looks like the guy was trying a quick one. The two cyclists that saw him had camera's on their helmets. Fair play to the other cyclists and hopefully they will send the footage to the garda station there.

Anyone ever see anything like this ?

Seems strange for someone to try that with a bus as they all have camera's recording so any attempt to make a false claim would be pretty pointless..

What would the complaint and potential subsequent charge be?

The lad acted erratically but it was hardly criminal behavior.

Could've been inattentive and then just been embarrased. Cycling into a stationary object is a) painful and b) mortifying, more so when there are people around

they may send the footage to the gardai as an indicator that there was a fraudulent attempt to claim (in case the cyclist reported an incident to the gardai) rather than in a bid to press charges.

This can happen, particularly if you're looking backwards over your shoulder to check traffic coming up behind.

Oh it can be painful, but he was rolling around till the other cyclist said something and then cycled off straight away. Just strange.

Causing damage to the bus or a fraudulent attempt to claim?

Sounds like he was pulling a Klinnsman.

Or if you're turning around to give the stink eye to an errant driver.

    (Ahem.)
