OOC: Also go to rolz to shoot and fight when you feel free, first round is yours since you have the element of surprise

Nathan catches up with the group and seeing them in a defensive position stops a few steps before them (OOC: At the last door of the purple rooms).

"Mant is a traitor!" he says and explains the situation in brief words including his earlier lie.

"I also picked this up. Probably more useful in your hands." He offers the grenade he picked up earlier.

Mufasta'r gives a thumbs up to Dr. Cole and nabs the nade from his fingers.

Nathan stays in cover and lets the others handle the situation. He'd probably shoot someone in the back by accident. He uses his time to check if he was successful to inherit Spachens user rights.

Data displays across his notepad, with Roland gone, user rights management has been transferred to a simple supercomputer.

    A response come back.

"Colonial authority - Comprimised, Dr. Spachens - Missing, Dr. Fulchz - Missing, Dr. Smith - Dead.

Most capable living scientific authority....Dr. Nathan Cole, native of Eberly, Blight Subsector, Imperium. Not of pure Terran descent.......bloodline protocols overridden, access granted.

    Congratulations Administrator Cole"

"Here we go." Nathan says with a smile as his first action is to revoke all of Mant's access rights. He continues to scan for Mant's personal journal entries or study journals.
"Let's see what you've been up to...."

    Lena spits.
"Jesus, did no one put on their big girl bra this morning?"

OOC: With how I'm rolling in this in this game I'd probably throw the pin and drop the grenade plus I'd already rolled for my opening shot and got a 6, including my +3 mod.

OOC: Right, I'll take a shot as well then.

Mufasta'r readies his rifle, following up the grenade throw by Lena.

OOC: Sorry for not nading them sooner, was hoping someone else would take the reigns.

The grenade arcs through the air, landing between the creatures, under the legs of one slightly taller than the others.

They get one split second to look at the strange object, their attention drawn to the magrail sonic boom from Kei's pistol. Perhaps whatever remains of their former humanity recognises the form of what Lena had hurdled, for it distends its jaw to force an incredibly high pitched scream for shortly before the blast and the orange white ball of flame consume them.

Immediately the door of the ward is ripped open by a massive orange beast roughly with the form of a centaur, several of the blue taloned type charge behind it. The human torso that extends from its neck still retains a face that looks somewhat like a man's. It turns in the groups direction and charges, the other beasts following.

They advance no more than a few meters as Mustafa'r knocks off the safety settings on his plasma rifle. The small fusion generators within the back of the rifle achieve stellar conditions in under a second before the gun discharges plasma so hot that looking directly upon it nearly blinds Golpspirot. The stream of stellar matter rushes over the infected, through the ward and down the corridor, melting floors, ceilings and walls and exposing the science hub to the plantary surface.

The arc of plasma then suddenly shunts to Mustafa'r's right, pulled by a magnetic field. Mustafa'r attempts to adjust the confinement fields on the gun, but the magnetic coils overload and short out. The arc swings through the wall, into Neutronium research, ripping through the confinement field on the neutronium sample.

What happens next confuses everyone as strange lights flicker in their eyes and the corridor wobbles.

Lena opens her eyes to Mufasta'r shouting, in slow motion, his voice having a metallic tinge to it. The whole group feels a powerful tug in the direction of the Neutronium sample. Mufasta'r and Kei balance themselves carefully, while Lena, knowing the pull of a gravitational field, quickly lies on the ground, pushing her feet against the grated floor.

Nathan and Golpspirot are not so lucky, but fortunately they are behind the others, not past the corridor turn for the attack. So they simply fall against the wall.

OOC: Athletics (Strength) or Athletics (Dexterity) with either Dexterity or Strength was used to resolve ability to stay steady. It's a static check, not rolled

Nathan Endurance down to 6, modifier reduced from +1 to +0

Nathan attempts to trigger the emergency containment protocols for the neutronium lab. Hopefully there's something in place to counter a breach of containment.

Nathan finds that the spatiotemporal distortions have, from the perspective of his pad, red-shifted the wifi network signal out of the microwave band and into the infrared, causing him to be disconnected.

  • Registered Users Posts: 468 ✭✭Nebelwerfer

Mufasta'r sees Dr. Cole hammer down on his data pad and recognizes the 'wifi-lost' signal.

He leans over to Dr. Cole and signs for him to latch onto, if not climb onto him, to try and get into reach of a viable signal.

Keen to hold up Dr. Cole, like a cellphone, as he had seen in pre-war romantic era terran movies, scanning to get but a single bar.

"Good thinking." Nathan says although the words reach his Aslan friend rather distorted. He tries to climb up and see if this changes something.

"The hell did you do, furbrain??!" Lena screams, looking for a big red button or any sign that big heavy doors are closing.

Ooc : if we can get to it would anyone have enough knowledge or skill to adapt the gravity generator to in any way counteract or isolate us from the neutronium?
And yes, I am thinking super monkey ball, what's your point?

OOC: Somebody with Engineering(Jump) would be a good idea, I don't have your sheets on my phone, but I think none of you have it. The next best would be Kei's Pilot (Capital) knowledge, as she would have been taught gravitics to some degree as part of it.

You'll have to reach it physically, it cannot be controlled via the network (Nathan would have seen this)

Ooc : ooooh I have pilot ( capital) too. Team Monkey Ball - gooooooooo!

OOC : BTW, Based on our position on the map vs the Neutronium Research Room, are we effectively facing a long fall south to the corridor wall north of the NRR? Is the force of the pull such that effectively the big circle in NRR is now "Down" so we can walk on any wall that goes around the NRR as if it were the floor, albeit with a significantly increased gravitational pull? Or are we still being pulled towards "true down" as well?

If the former, is the hole into NRR directly below us or offset? Can we absail / "fall with style" towards the Floor-wall using fittings and fixtures on the corridor to control our descent?

OOC: From where you currently are, it's still mostly normal in direction, just with a slight pull toward NNR, it will get stronger as you go closer until NRR becomes down. By the actual entry corridor NRR will be down, so you can absail in. I'm telling you this as Lena would know.

Most of the others see Nathan move past them far faster than, but slowing as he approaches Mufasta'r.

As he climbs and Mufasta'r walks about, they realise the signal is stronger back the way they came, until eventually they come to a sealed door.

    OOC: Door marked

Nothing like that around, though the bodies of the infected are slowly pulled round the corner by the gravitational force.

Being a big fan of keeping the squad together and not getting sealed in to nuetronium research if the egghead is successful, Lena follows Cole and Mufasta

Kei's not going to stand around on her own and follow the group.

The door leading to a long with terminals on each wall opens. At the end of the corridor lies another door.

It is clear that gravity switches direction along the corridor, as a quarter of the way in the terminals have fallen out of there stations and dangle by their cables toward the second door.

Stronger signal means better connection which in turn means a chance to get out of this mess... Nathan tries to move closer and tries to logon regularly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,558 ✭✭✭✭Fourier

He manages to establish a slow unstable connection. The pad tells him that it is the wifi signal from Roland's core. A distorted voice signal comes through.

"Dr. Cole, it's dark...can you reconnect me...please? Network cables damaged...I am alone"

While they work on the computers, Lena does a quick corner check and clear on the room to the west and north of that door.

The room to the North has a window covered with blood, a few scientists have been shoved through the glass, skulls broken.

Strapped to an operating table is a beast with eight legs and two large tongues whipping about.
