Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anyone know a phone repair shop, re Motorola?

My Moto G 2015 (3rd gen) phone's loudspeaker has stopped working (just the speaker; the sound works via headphones, and phone calls - when I notice one!).
I've ascertained it's just a flattened speaker connection (like a battery one), but the dismantling guide I found online is more complex than other Moto models, involving some careful heating (and I don't have a hairdryer!).  I could ring round, if I knew the names of some phone repair shops?  (E.g the one in Donegal Town on the way up to Supervalu).  My nearest town's Ardara, next nearest Killybegs & Glenties.  Wouldn't mind going further afield (e.g. Dungloe, Letterkenny, Ballyshannon, Enniskillen) if more skilled/familiar with Motorola.
    All suggestions gratefully received!

The one in Donegal Town you refer to on Quay St is MobileZone and they do fix phones, but not sure about Motorola. Their number is 0749725370

The other one, at upper Main St is called Donegal Mobiles 089 9880538. I don't know what they fix, but maybe worth a call too.

Thanks Byte!  I did drive past MobileZone last week but didn't get a chance to get the number.  And I didn't know about Donegal Mobiles.  So I'll give them a ring.

Meanwhile, I found another Boards topic highly recommending fonez.ie,who have a branch in Letterkenny and do quotes by email, so I'll follow that up as well.

I'll report back here when it's done (probably this week).

Its a fairly common issue with the G. It is unfortunately in most cases not worth fixing as the repair is tricky. Pretty much all HTC brand phones are the same.

Hugmie in the shopping center in Letterkenny is who i would recommend, not sure they would be willing to repair it though. 074 916 1989.

    Good luck.

I went to Fones in Letterkenny today, and got it fixed.  It was too much of an unknown to give an estimate; I dropped it in, told them what I knew, and they texted my friend 2 hours later that it was ready to collect.  The speaker itself had failed (I think it was the tiny wires inside it).  He happened to have the right speaker in stock, so was able to do it within about 2 hours (if they hadn't, they could have got it from another branch).

The bill was €25, which I thought very reasonable considering how fiddly it probably was and how much care was necessary with the particular model.  They couldn't guarantee to keep the screen intact (perhaps that's a standard caveat?), but they did anyway.  I had the feeling they care about keeping their customers (it worked for me!).

Thank you all for your help.
