    Extraordinary stage so far.

So was this the plan for Froome... hold on for the first two weeks, then ramp up the effort in the third week (with the Tour in mind) and go mental on the final two stages to win the Giro?

This is so un-sky and un-froome like - properly mental attacking off the fronton your own with 80k to go

I was thinking the same. Is he trying win a popularity vote, something like Contador had, by attacking and getting rid of that robotic Sky stigma.

My €5 on Yates to finish in the top 10 from the start of race is looking a surprisingly poor investment now.

    Pinot gone?

Yates has lost 10 mins on half this climb...he'll be lucky to keep up with the bus at this rate!

I think Froome's biggest chance of victory is Dumoulin screwing up a descent.

Epic cycling. Looks great on TV. GC all over the mountain and still 70 Kms to go. So much better than any recent TdF. The Vuelta and the giro always deliver.

No, punctured and it appears Dumoulin has waited for him.

I have this strange feeling that Froome will end up winning the Giro and then cut a deal with the UCI to accept a 6 month ban while keeping his Vuelta and Giro victories. The Tour is still up in the air but looks like he'll start in July.

Froome is going to win this :(

Feckin class. All this stage is missing is Papa Valverde!

If he’s banned, it goes back to the Vuelta.

I feel sick watching this. Froome is riding into Pink today. If he misses it today, he’ll have it tomorrow.

All while waiting to find out about his ban. Should have been sorted out months ago.

Following on cyclingnews live updates. No mention of whether he's gone full Landis emptying bottles over his head?

They're not working properly with Dumoulin here. Carapaz and Lopez will wheel suck all the way to the final climb and attack Dumoulin. Don't know what to make of Pinot - looks like he has no racing sense.

Froome on current shots doesn't even looked tired.
