Ballyhayle deserved winners against the rower today. First time seeing them under Henry and was impressed with them they played some great hurling at times. Same old story for the Rower again. Ballyhayle took 2 of a good few goal chances while the rower didn't take any of theirs.

Never seen Tj hit as many wides before, missed 3/4 frees at least. He played most of it at midfield and was just a class above his touch passing composure and tackling were top notch. Joey was alright at FB. Colin worked very hard but his striking was awful. Adrian Mullen very good when in full forward and Evan shefflin impressed at 5. Darren Mullen man marked leahy and did an excellent job kept leahy very quite but he did get 2 nice points.

Picked ballyhayle at the start and will stick by it. Wonder where Michael fennelly will play next day, don't know why he wasn't playing today. Dansfort vs the bridge sounded like a great game anybody at it, sadly I had the bridge backed!

I thought Ballyhale were poor in 2nd half, too loose (marking) and took too many pot shots when a colleague was better placed. They are still a gear or two from winning a title, they do not look like a team that could stick with OLG or 'Boro in the heat of championship...

i thought that bhale were impressive without putting the rower away.eoin cody looks a good prospect while evan shefflin is very strong.Tj covered all of the pitch.bhale should improve as they get their team together.
didnt attend the boro match but suprised by the winning margin they look to have their house back in order.
i attended the bridge match and dfort were moving very well.richie had a few magic touches and had a good tussle with morrissey.paul murphy let brian lannon in handy enough for a good finish and bridge took over.sean morrisey chipped in with a few long range points and jason cleere came into it at mf.dfort got a late penalty paddy hogan had his shot saved and the rebound went in.
up in gowran chris bolger was the star man on show but the referee was lucky this game didnt get completly out of control as the clara number 13 got polaxed across the head before setting up bolgers goal unbelievably no card given and the resulting puckout a big scrap broke out between players and lads on the line.thankfully things cooled of in the secound half.Mick rice pulled up late in the game with a hamstring he was going well up to that.John power was also playing but drove a few terrible wides.

    Dicksboro v Mullinavat
I'd see themselves and O' Loughlin's as the front runners.
The Village and Ballyhale are in that bracket imo. The rest...

Great reports and opinions from lads, much appreciated as always! Glad to hear the boro have righted the ship somewhat

vegas will be dissapointed with today anyone know how john walsh went?
bragget according to the programme missing alot at the moment especially to a few key players the village should have to much who are also blooding a few nice players.

I was impressed by Ballyhale, thought they should have won by a lot more but hit a lot of wides. TJ missed 4 of 5 very scorable frees but played very well otherwise in a sort of quarterback role. 11 different scorers for Ballyhale including 4 from Evan Shefflin from halfback.
Danesfort got a goal in the fourth minute of stoppage time to beat Bennettsbridge by a point in a tight match. Danesfort went into an 8 points lead in the first half but Bennettsbridge fought back to lead by 2 points going into injury time. Danesfort were awarded a penalty which was saved but the rebound was hit to the net. You would fancy Danesfort to beat Comer and Ballyhale to beat Bennettsbridge which could mean Comer, Bridge, Shocks and Clara/Village in the relegation battle. O'Loughlins are guaranteed to be in the League final but couldn't see them as county champions

John Walsh was OK but faded badly when Vat faded. Seems to have lost that zip of a few years ago

Tight finish in windgap between Thomastown and Tullaroan. Match played at good tempo but both sets of forwards struggling and reliant on frees.

Thomastown lead early on and were on top in the early stages and then tullaroan scored a goal and then padraig walsh thundered in to it and scored 2 or three nice points and tullaroan led from there to the finish keeping thomastown at arms length until the last five minutes when things got interesting.

The tight confines of the pitch in windgap really suited the backs bar John Donnelly and Padraig Walsh first half no other forward made much of an impression.

The referee seemed to give thomastown a few dubious frees in the second half which got them back into the game and tullaroan were disappointing in the last twenty minutes but a missed free from a 21 yard free to level the game was missed in injury time from thomastown and tullaroan scored with last puck of game to win by 2.

Tullaroan full back line were very tight and aggressive and came out with a lot of ball and used it well, Tommy Walsh senior poor at full forward but excellent at midfield, Walton midfield was very good and padraig hurled well first half.

For thomastown brian murphy did a good job second half on padraig walsh, dessie walsh and john donnelly hurled well. Could have got something out of the game only for two late missed frees.

Expected more from tullaroan based on reports I had heard but expect that there is a lot more in them, they are well drilled and play with lots of movement so maybe it was tightness of the pitch.

Thomastown have a few to come back but will need more scoring from the forwards who haven't threatened many goals at all this year.

I've been very impressed by Hugh Lawlor throughout the league for O Loughlins. Should have every chance of getting serious league time for KK next year. Can play at 3 or 6 and would be a huge boost if it released Padraig or Cillian to 5 or 7

He is not a bad hurler last year in the u21 all Ireland he kept battling away when other people were not going well around him.

Dfort V Bridge: Entertaining match and and some very good scores. Bridge hit alot of wides while on the other hand Richie scored some great scores. Morrissey man marked Richie first half but was far too loose and in second half Cleere took over and did a far better job while also scoring two points of his own. Padraig Mullen also got 3points and Daire O'Neill had great game at wing back for the fort. Aidan Cleere came on in second half for bridge and cause alot of problems under high ball while Blanchfield didnt score much but was winning ball and did cause problems. Important confidence booster win for Dfort

Glenmore V Freshford: Ger Alyward, Eoin Murphy and Alan Murphy were the major differences here. Aylward scored 2-2 from full forward while also winning some frees and missed a one on one with the game after blazing a shot just wide. He was out in front everytime winning the ball and his first instinct every time was to head towards goal. His first touch let him down at times but great to see him hitting some form and hopefully will stay injury free. Alan Murphy scored a scorcher of goal from 25 yards in to the top corner while also scored some nice points from play and was faultless on the frees. Eoin Murphy really came in to the last 20mins and got two great points towards the end. Freshford played so defensively it was beyond belief as they seemed to play with just one inside forward the whole game. James Maher tried his best to cover the ground and get on ball but not to much avail and would think at stage Fford would be bookies favourites for the drop.......

    GBC V Tullogher:
Ballycallan Started very well and after a well taken Billy Ryan goal raced into a 10point lead. Tullogher were shocking poor imo and GBC will be very disappointed to have let Tullogher back in to the game. Conor Murphy was very good and Conor Flynn at CB also had a solid game. Wally got two goals in second half to bring Tullogher back into it but GBC were by far the better team in a game that threatened to boil over at times due to some late hits. Eddie B came on in second half to try help steady the ship but didnt get much ball. Given that GBC are missing Ger Teehan and Colum Prend. from last years team they really are going well and they were able to bring on Jesse Roberts yesterday too after returning from injury

    Village V Ballragget:
Tough weather and heavy ground Conditions made this game a dog fight that village really should have won at a canter if serious about winning championship. Ballyragget started without Kevin Kelly, Steve Staunton, Saoirse Kenny, James Gannon and Geoff Morrissey. Ballyragget had two lads sent off in the second half with Morrissey who was just after coming on very harshly sent off for a straight red. Barry Staunton was then sent off few mins later for a second yellow while Jack McGrath was very lucky not to see the line for the village. Joe Brennan got two goals while Michael Brennan showed well too. For the village thought Hennessy and Jackie played well. They didnt cause much of a scoring threat upfront however as Larkin operated as a sweeper again in the first half.

Good analysis was at 3 matches you reported there. Our game was poor, Ballyraggett never looked like winning and the Village won playing in 4th gear. Ballyraggett will have to get the injured lads back. They are lucky to be safe. Cant see Mvat or Boro slipping up in the final round so we will have to play first round, likely v Rower

Was at the Tullogher v GBC match. Strange match as in Tullogher gifted Ballycallan 2- 5 from mistakes and wasted 10 or more scoring chances between frees and silly wides and getting blocked down and still were in the game in the final moments. Ballycallan look lively and are strong contenders to go up. Tullogher not out of it if they can tidy up some of there hurling.

Danesfort will be delighted to have a chance of getting out of relegation. if not they should win the 1st round v Carrickshock. Coming into form at the right time. Bennetsbridge have a big tail in there side. Some of the bigger names will have to step up

What did you make of the sending off of Geoff Morrissey for straight red card? I personally thought it was very harsh although it was a late hit surely was only meriting a yellow.......

who have impressed lads the last few weeks on the club scene?it will only start to head up now, from what i have seen over the last few weeks after attending a good few senior and intermediate matches we're all hopefull huw lawlor can continue his good form over the next few weeks,he has strenght and pace and is able to hurl.I was also impressed with robbie buckley.Conor browne has done well for the village and i like the look of him.Evan shefflin has also being solid im suprised he didnt make it at u21 level this year maybe he was injured.Matt kenny of clara is also playing well.
great to see james maher hurling well although freshford are struggling but conor murphy of gbc and paul holden from gowran have both being very consistent so far.
its very hard pick a winner at senior alot of teams will fancy their chances but i have a slight fancy for the shamrocks.
tullaron are favourites for intermediate but thomastown arent far off them and over the next few weeks with pitches getting softer anything could happen.
junior is also very hard to call with mixed results dunnamaggin have being going well but theres talk of olg or the boros junior team being very strong.

Another chapter in the Kilkenny V Cork camogie saga on Sunday. After the heartbreak of the 1pt loss to the Rebels last year, can Kilkenny come back and beat them , after beating Cork by a point in the League Final.!

Also, in the Intermediate final, Kilkennys Liz Dempsey is on the line, and is standby ref.

    Hon The Cats !!

Junior is all over the place. Dunnamaggin were dreadful against Piltown who lost to Windgap and Windgap lost to Barrow Rangers and Barrow Rangers got hammered by Piltown. On the other side of the draw (considered the weaker side) Cloneen seem to be the team finishing with form with wins over Galmoy and Slieverue. The second teams such O'Loughlins who won the All-County League are very dependent on what players get pulled for first team duty before the final/Semi-Finals. This is what did OLG last year. Anyone could actually win it. In general the overall standard of junior is low in Kilkenny which has a huge knock on effect on young players who have done well with development squads and underage county teams up to now. Their development is seriously at risk once they pass minor and it is an area which I have long believed needs to be addressed especially with U21 being a possible one match knock out winter game. A lot of potentially good players are losing out being with junior clubs. Certainly there must be room for some sort of regional junior competition that would allow the best of them some opportunity to keep developing from 18 to 23.

He has improved in leaps & bounds every year for the last three years, he was excellent in U21 Co. Final last year and when his 1st touch is spot on he has the power and movement to make space (for himself) and he is very powerful going forward. The downside is that he is still prone to making basic errors with his decision making, booming shots wide (not withstanding his four excellent scores v R. Inistioge) and not offloading the simple passes to a better placed colleague, if he could start to get them right (the majority of the time), he is a prospect. His patience and defending has greatly improved also.

Couldn't we argue the decision making and experience would come with better coaching, experience and better players around him like in the county set up. With Evan, huw lawlor and some of the other lads going well and then cleere coming back looks like there could be competition in the backs which we need for next year

That's the advantage of Divisional boards in the likes of Cork,Limerick and Tipp. They allow serious junior competition to develop and the best junior players can hurl with the division in the senior championship in Cork or Limerick. It's not perfect but the Divisions have their positive points. Imokilly division in Cork are tearing it up again this year with Harnedy and his club are nearly a junior B team.

If I remember he was serious talent.
I know he prob won't reach inter county heights again, but fair play to him. I hope it goes well for him

I know he prob won't reach inter county heights again, but fair play to him. I hope it goes well for him

He must only be 26 or 27? Fair play to him if it works out, must have been very hard having to give up so young, let alone for the reason he did. Would be a lovely story.

    Seemingly so.
