Questions about marital status and number of kids are asked on a mortgage application. Not sure about smaller loans. They're not checked as such, but if your friend tries to tell a porky about their situation, there are other ways they could be seen, e.g. another name appearing on historic loans on their credit report, transactions on their current account etc.

He is trying to get a small loan as he is returning to full time employment and has a full term contract now but 0 funds to pay day

He has excellent prospects but 0 cash flow

A pay day loan is an option from wonga or what ever it’s called but it just seems such a desperate move but he just needs € for 1-2 mths
