Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Huge difference compared to a competitive game.

€50 to see your team play in your own city? Hardly a waste of money. Are you mad that you didn't get a ticket?

    Cheers.

Not too strange I guess, it is dejan after all.

Was it Lucas that would post cryptic tweets or instagram messages.

Liverpool second favourite on PP anyway. 4-1. City are 8/11 favourites. If I actually had any money, would lump a bit on Liverpool this year. I almost feel it's inevitable - our year.

Never a fan of attending friendlies either. It's pure money grabbing and meaningless. It's more for kids imo.

Just watched the game again, ah such happy shiny faces at the end. Freesports comms team were boringly effusive about the players and Klopp. They had a point, from top to bottom the coaching is fully integrated, you could drop in any combination of players and they'd be confident of each others pass and move groove in no time. Utd were a mix of bent cogs crashing and grinding - no tactical coherence, no real energy or conviction.

Some were wondering about Mane's contract renewal - announced tonight they are in chat about it. And no plans for any more incoming reiterated.

I'm not attending the friendly myself in Dublin so I'm not coming at this with any vested interest... but I don't get the attitude that some posters seem to have regarding other Liverpool fans on this thread going.

It's almost like 'I'm a better fan because I go to competitive games'.

I've seen Liverpool play in competitive games and friendly games and for the most part I've enjoyed them all immensely. To be amongst fellow reds is the experience of feeling of belonging to the LFC family.

To all those going on Saturday, I hope it's a wonderful experience for you and we all get a result to enjoy.

    YNWA.

Hopefully not directed at me, as I definately didn't mean that.

Personally not a fan of them, down to the spectacle really, and I think the FAI take the piss with cost. Some of the tickets are more than double the Utd game at Anfield price :o

Klopp has said they have started talks with Mane over a new contract.

He also said Liverpool is no longer a stepping stone club it is a destination club.

I'd love to think that is true but PL wages are vastly over those in the rest of Europe. That is what is partly bringing talent. A good run in the CL helped also. Klopp's enthusiasm is another factor. It all adds up.

Can't wait for the new season with this squad.

Official squad numbers to be revealed tomorrow that might add some more spectation to who is staying and who is going if numbers are swapped around.

Well much like a lot in this life, everything is relative, and I'm sure that those who attend will consider it money well spent.

Alisson, Fabinho and Brewster are ones without numbers at present I think.

Loris Karius tweeted something with the hashtag #LK1 the other day, least I think I saw a post with that on here. Wonder is that him refusing to give up the number 1 jersey.

I doubt Alisson will give much of a damn tbh.

    Fabinho wore 2 at Monaco.

    Clyne is 2.

    Mignolet is 22.

Karius has been using the #LK1 for a long time now as a sign off on tweets.

Yeah, I think it might be branding of some kind for Karius? Like, clothing or something? Or just like R9, or DB7, maybe not necessarily a tangible brand, but a personality brand.

Doubtless an agent or marketing specialists idea. I can almost see the pitch meeting, where they talk above those lads above (and CR7, F9T etc), and say no one has yet taken advantage of the number “1”, and he should be the one to do it.

This is me (and I paid more than €50). 12 months ago, my son was 6 and liked football, but hadn't caught the bug. He didn't understand why Daddy shouted at the TV. :)
I brought him to the Aviva to see Liverpool play last summer. He's been mad for them every since. So we are going again, and I'll probably bring him to Anfield this season...

Yeah I paid 40 quid for a friendly but I paid a lot more going to Anfield to watch the CL final, even if it is a Micky mouse game in the Aviva if I am free and can afford it, I'll go, wouldn't pay 70 quid mind you...

It's important to indoctrinate them young so they can't be tempted by the dark-side. If he could get his friends into Liverpool it may future-proof the next generation from becoming Man City fans.

My wife is a United fan! We always said we wouldn't try any dark arts to convince the kids who to support, but I'm the more active fan, so when I suggested the game last summer, she was fine with it. It's a father son thing!
She gets to go shopping and for afternoon team with our girls. :D

In terms of not caring less, him being there can only be good for us in terms of signings because Liverpool and Man U are both huge clubs but players will want to play for Klopp rather than Mourinho.

Also, i'm just enjoying listening to Man U fans since Ferguson left. They thought his term was the norm rather than an era that would inevitably end so it's lovely to read their forum and see them blink in the glare of reality. They have become what they've always mocked before.

There's a small chance Mourinho cracks under the pressure of a bad couple of results this year and walks mid year creating utter chaos. It's not likely, and it strictly speaking has nothing to do with Liverpool but my oh my would I enjoy it.

He'd make sure they fired him so he gets his severance. And wouldn't look good for his future employment prospects...

for sure, the hoops he jumped through to get fired by Chelsea were spectacular. It's hard to see how he tops that, maybe set fire to Old Trafford?
