Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Or photoshopped.

I would really not pay much credence to it at all.

Karius gone for a brain/head scan (no sniggering at the back please) with fears he picked up a concussion in the ECL final during a clash with Sergio Ramos.

Ah yeah I'm sure the consultant would be happy with that.

It's funny. Sky reporting that he collided with Ramos like it was his fault for running into the elbow.

From Indykailla so you can discount that.

I know this is the "Rumours" thread but I really think silly baseless twitter rumours should be banned here

German press today saying he fail 20 odd tests out of 30 with the US specialist. Nearly confirms that he was effected by the event.

Bild are reporting that he failed concussion tests.

Basically saying the club sent him to a US Specialist in Boston. He is a specialist for concussion.........Karius failed 26 out of 30 tests. Basically saying he was still suffering from concussion when doing the test.

Has he been suffering from concussion all season?
He is a poor goal keeper, even on his "good" days.
If this is just some ploy to augment his resale value, then great.
Otherwise, it is going to be a rotten summer and 2018/19 season.

Implementing a HIA system similar to rugby would work very well and be easy to implement.

The shambolic nature of that final knows no limit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,051 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Not terribly surprising I suppose, given the madness of both actions - but have to ask why he stayed on the pitch? My own experience is limited - i've been concussed twice during matches - but though at first I was confused beyond self judgement, within 10 minutes I was aware something was wrong with me...

I'm sure all footballers do baseline tests for there clubs anyway before the start of the season.

So it will be easy enough to test during the season if they get a bang to the head.

Just a fine for the Man City coach incident, thankfully.

    https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-hit-uefa-fine-after-14742912

".......UEFA could have ordered Liverpool to play their next home Champions League game behind closed doors but have instead chose to fine the Anfield outfit......"

Was wondering when that'd be sorted.

Statement regarding Loris Karius From Dr. Ross Zafonte and Lenore Herget, PT, DPT
We have received numerous calls today regarding the health status of Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius. With Mr. Karius’s permission, we are providing information about his medical situation in an effort to prevent, where possible, the dissemination of incomplete or erroneous information.

On May 31, 2018 Mr. Karius underwent a comprehensive examination by Dr. Ross Zafonte and Dr. Lenore Herget in Boston at Massachusetts General Hospital and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.

After carefully reviewing game film and integrating a detailed history – including his reported present and immediate post-contact subjective symptoms – physical examination and objective metrics, we have concluded that Mr. Karius sustained a concussion during the match May 26, 2018.

At the time of our evaluation, Mr. Karius’s principal residual symptoms and objective signs suggested that visual spatial dysfunction existed and likely occurred immediately following the event. Additional symptomatic and objectively noted areas of dysfunction also persisted. It could be possible that such deficits would affect performance.

We also note that Mr. Karius has reported significant and steady improvement since the concussive event, and we expect him to make a full recovery based on the results of the examination. We expect that with treatment and by following prescribed activity protocols he will continue to improve. We have encouraged vigilance and an emphasis on safety in his eventual return to full activity.

This is the only comment we will be making in relation to this matter. All future media inquiries should be directed to the Liverpool FC Press Office .

    Dr. Ross Zafonte

Senior VP of Medical Affairs, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital

Chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Massachusetts General Hospital

Report him to who? The same people Lyon are reporting us to for reporters speculating that we're signing Nabil Fekir?

Can’t fault him for the third goal if that is true, no way he would able to keep track of that ball while suffering concussion.

So hospital report that Karius was concussed when he messed up and that he had no spacial awareness.

Either protecting him or making excuses to get his price up to something reasonable again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,397 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

Surely if they were faking it he could’ve went down to the local GP and threw him £50 for the sick note rather than going all the way over there.

To a hospital where you would imagine lots of Boston players have been throughout the years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,937 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

With the lawsuits going on within the NFL about Concussions there is now way a hospital in the States is going to lie about anything like that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,397 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

Would Karius be in on this or is it a case of people organizing it behind his back as a little pick me up?

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

I know it's cruel & swift but he still has to be replaced.

If Mane had/has an agreement to join Real this summer and the deal was done behind Liverpools back then they can be reported it UEFA/FIFA, just as Southampton said they would do with us for the VVD tapping. Press on mainland EU are stating that the link is coming from within Madrids management. Someone would want to talk to the player and his agent to clear up the matter.......

As for Nabil Fekir.....have LFC or its employees stated or said at any point publically that they have a deal in place with him or that he is joining?? If anything LFC are being very respectful of Lyon and the player.

A hospital is not going to risk its reputation to give a false diagnosis to excuse a football player who made some mistakes.

Ramos elbowed him in the head & Karius went down.

    Easily could have been concussed.

Guess Karius will be the no.1 next season then.

Well, if he is at least the ole net spend will look ok :)
....... presumably he hasn't been driving around etc since the game if he's concussed?

Did the incident happen before the first goal?

As that would explain the first goal more for me as I found it to be a bigger error and would be explained by his spatial awareness being impacted and so that hew wasn't able to judge Benzema's distance relative to him.
