Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yep, can't expect to start winning multiple league titles without at least one Irishman on the pitch...

Learn so much on this thread, first we had Ramadan experts, then it was stock exchange and now it's knee specialists. Fascinating stuff altogether.

During the H&G days, there was more Chartered Accountants in Liverpool threads than in PWC

This is simply not true. I've had many people gang up on me and misrepresent what I have said, all to suit their vile and despicable agenda. The good old boys always get their man.

I hope Shaqiri joins. I'm sure Klopp could get him into shape and ready to go.

    Congrats to Kenny.

I've no truck with these awards, they are a throwback to eras of hereditary titles and patronage that doesn't sit well with me personally, as well as being a thank you to political and establishment cronies in the modern era, so I personally don't like them. For instance, if Hillsborough, and the work done by Kenny and many others in the aftermath had happened to people in any other UK city, this would have happened 25 years ago, but given the politics of the time it didn't.

That said, Kenny has been a hero of mine for many years now, so if he's happy to receive it in his own, his family's, and the city's behalf, then I'm OK with it.

Lyon confirming fekir is staying, we'll that's a pain but if that club has a strict medical protocol then nothing they couldve done.
What is unforgivable now is if klopp has no back up players of the same quality lined up.

What a bizarre situation. Mad to think there is an interview out there with Fekir in the club gear saying how delighted he is to be joining Liverpool.

Club kinda have to come out now and expalin what's happened.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,740 ✭✭✭✭MD1990

I think it will be very hard to a player as good as Fekir for 50m.

Terrible news but if the club had concerns long term about his knee & with our playing style it would have been risky.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,061 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

So be it. Luckily this has happened so early in the window from a practical point of view it doesn't matter that much - just have to find a suitable alternative.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,039 ✭✭✭Moist Bread

The statement from Lyon is mental, coming across like Liverpool pissed them off so won’t deal with them but will deal with other clubs..

We definitely seem to have more weird transfer sagas than other big clubs.

No we don't, we just see our clubs more closely.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,740 ✭✭✭✭MD1990

Lyon don't want Fekir to lose value its why there are releasing the statements to make out it was a problem with the fee.

You cant spend 50m on a player if you have concerns over his long term fitness especially in our style of play.
It is a huge blow though because Fekir is a brillant. Will be interesting if anyone else will sign him for 50m this summer.

Meh..... can't expect back ups to match to be fair.

Will be interesting to see what happens next for Fekir. And who, if anyone, we target as an alternative.

I will say that I'm more surprised than disappointed but that's purely because I'm not that familiar with him as a player. I know he's very highly rated but look at Remy and our issues with his medical. He didn't exactly set the world alight elsewhere afterwards.

Fekir could be a superstar somewhere but you can't blame the club if there are concerns over his ability to play at that price!

Woudn't be surprised at all if he ends up at another big English club.

Sure a lot of people will give the club stick but better this than ending up with a €50 million Sturridge.

Credit to them for not going through with it.

Between wages and everything it's probably not far off a 100m investment. If there's any risk it can't happen.

Time will tell if this was the right choice or not. I am happy to go with what the club thinks is best, for now.

Why are you so obsessed with sturridge? A true professional who gave his all for liverpool but you cant resist the urge to insult him?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,365 ✭✭✭.red.

That French Feckir doesn't seem to be coming, a deal seemed to be pretty much done and donated so hopefully what caused it to be cancelled comes out.

On the "Sir" King Kenny thing, I'd love to see him turn it down.
What the man did for football, he should have had a lesser one 20 years ago, (maybe an OBE or an MBE whatever they are), the fact that he was a Glaswegian, famous for being a Liverpool legend stopped that.
His work for charity has been relentless, you'd struggle to find anyone with a bad word to say about him, plenty of people who have done a hell of a lot less than him have gotten these.
His work on the Hillsborough tragedy and the ruling change last year should have moved him from a lesser title to a "Sir" but I honestly believe it was the politics of the Hillsborough tragedy that stopped him being recognised before now.

The man genuinely seems ecstatic about it so for that reason I'm happy for him, maybe the fact that he's gotten it late means the general political stance on the tragedy has changed for the better?

Anyway, isn't a "Sir" lower than a King? Why take the step down?

Will be interesting to see where things go from hear but I wouldn't rule out Fekir happening yet. It's being a mental couple of days with journos getting a head of themselves.

Just to be a nit picker, but he was made a MBE in, I think, '85. But I respect your position.

I honestly never knew that, never even heard it mentioned before.
Changes my opinion of it a little but it's still much to late but like I said, it probably means a massive political shift in opinion on Hillsborough and that's only a good thing.
