Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Mundo Deportivo is the Spanish Paper reporting it.

They are Barcelona's mouthpiece paper like Marca is Madrid's.

This is the Barca/Madrid war trying to undermine each other and unsettle the players at each others clubs.

He is a player I'd love however it's never going to happen.

Kovacic in Marca saying he is looking for an exit

Presumably they'd want 50m off whoever's going for him. Unless they're Italian. Then they'll accept 22p, a hat and some grapes. After a free two year loan.

50m would be a steal. If Fekir is no can do, he'd be great

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,930 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

I could see half a dozen PL teams outside the top 6 throwing €50m at Madrid for him.

A complete bargain at that price in this era of transfers.

Its absolutely crazy how the pricetag of players has gone.

Remember when djibril cisse was our record signing at 15 million in 2004.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,225 ✭✭✭marklazarcovic

Can't see us spending on another cm though

The French rozzers investigated that one.

Those meatballs are ****ing rank, whereas sausage, sauerkraut and hefeweisse are all boss, therefore a good result.

Best sausage they ever came up with (although Austrians would claim it as their own) is the Kasekrainer - like a bratwurst but filled with cheese - known to cure the worst hangover in seconds. Yes to sauerkraut and hefe, but the resulting farts the following morning have been known to kill small animals and children...

His price hasn't went up by going to Russia anyway. Hopefully we just announce another signing instead.
    Preferably a goalie.

The thing with lovren is he is this generations henchoz. Henchoz was a great second defender. He was good at just doing the simple things and getting rid of the ball. When he tried to take time on the ball or try to play football he made mistakes which where rightfully criticised. Luckily he was rarely the "center back in charge". He had bug sami who controlled things. Together they where a really good team.

Lovren is the same. Up until january we were asking all of our center backs to step up and be our sami. But none where good enough. Thats not a slagging. Very few are good enough to be a terry rio carra or sami. Lovren tried and because of his over confidence at times he let himself down. Tried to take the extra touches to show he was capable of being a leader and calming things down. Of course he wasnt and didnt. Instead he added to the chaos that was our defence.

When virgil arrived you could tell from his first game against everton that he was a leader. Sure shouting and pointing proves nothing. But his calmess that he brought to the back four when he took a few touches with the ball said it all. When he was seen shouting orders for the keeper to come collect the ball you could see he could be our new sami.

Lovren wasnt that. But you cant have two samis. When carra played with sami it was carra who was less vocal. Sami was in charge perhaps until he started to become a squad player it was when carra became the leader at the back. Its why carra and terry never worked out for England. You cant have two leaders in one area of the pitch. If carra is shouting one thing and terry another, who do you listen to?

This is why we need a lovren rather than a boatang. Could you imagine we signed boatang? Would be a huge signing. But he is too vocal and too much a leader to work with virgil. They wouldnt suit each other because thats not how alphas work. Its perhaps why gomez could work. Because he would be virgils understudy rather than rival for alpha status.

We can improve on lovren of course. But its not as simple as buy a world class defender. We need a player that will eaither take orders from virgil or one that will make virgil take orders.

Lovren is fine for what he is. I just wish our back up wasnt so light. Klaven is who needs to be replaced..
Brilliant post and totally agree with that assessment.

Was just thinking today its great to have van dijk, keita and fabinho for a full pre-season especially the latter two. Would expect to see fabinho and keita in the team from the start because of it.

Hopefully Trent gets on the pitch in the second half of this England game with the lead they’ve built up, it’d be great to see him on the pitch at a World Cup with the season he’s had.

CNN are reporting Salah is ready to quit the Egyptian team after what happened in Chechnya where Egypt have been based for the World Cup.

He doesn't want to be used as a propaganda tool.

Doubt he would quit, he is a national hero but can see why he is disappointed. Team should really look after him and prevent that kind of stuff where there is chance of reputational damage, particularly fopr such a high profile player within their group.

The thought of Salah being fresh as a daisy after international breaks is truly exciting, I know it’s selfish but I’d love if he was indeed done with Egypt.

He's only just gotten done with his last lawsuit against the Egyptian FA too, after they used his image for advertising without his permission, and in breach of a conflicting contract he had. (he's sponsored by Vodafone, but the Egyptian FA used his image on a competing telecoms company's advertising to get more money). He won the suit, but it dragged on for ages and seemed to get fairly nasty.

So I could see him being a bit tired of their ****. Doubt he'll actually leave them, but could see him drawing a line in the sand that he wants out of all team political/promotional stuff.
