Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Would have. Goalkeeper never had control of the ball.

Was a foul on the keeper

Nah, think it was debatable enough that the benefit would always go to the keeper. He had it in his hands, then let go for a split second in the air, but when contact is made, he has 2 hands on the ball again. The contact is directly what caused him to let go again, so would have been ruled a foul i'd say.

He never has control of the ball. Its not even in his hands when Azpilliceuta touches him. Now, we can debate if its a foul or not. But at no point does he have control of the ball.

Haller has a near-perfect record so I'm sure he's taking one. Presumably Paciencia too since he was brought on in the last few minutes. Higuain, Jorginho and Hazard likely stepping up for Chelsea you'd think.

Maybe you should have another look. He had it in 2 hands until Azpilacueta barged into him/hit his arm.

No he doesnt. The ball is out of both his hands before ANY contact is made. Watch the slow mo.

I'd back Chelsea's peno takers to win this, Jorginho, Hazard, Luiz, Higuain have all taken a decent amount of them and should be 4 of the 5.

Not that it helps, but the games on BT are about the only reason I keep Eir broadband.

Won't that change next season as BT will be carried by Sky and not Eir?

It's out of his hands, and then back in his hands when contact is made.

Easy call for the ref to make to be honest, no way they'd even consider setting the precedent of knocking into a keeper.

    Great first pen.

Mmmm....doesn't work that way in penalty shoot outs when the pressure is on.

Moving to sky in August, looks like no reason to have eir after that

Incorrect. He let go momentarily then re-gathered before his arm was hit.

Getting that much of a hand on it Kepa should save that.

    Azpi misses!

    Dreadful penalty from Frankfurt.

Never looked likely Hinteregger would score and he doesn't. All square now if Chelsea score.

    And Luiz does.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

    All square.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Here's Paciencia who was brought on presumably for the shootout.

    And he misses! Kepa saves.

    Paciencia is not a virtue.

How to save peno - just stand in the middle and someone will blast it at you.

    Of course he does!

Someone being a defender doesn't mean they're bad at pens. Someone being a striker doesn't mean they're good. If my life depended upon a pen, I'd have had Jamie Carragher or David Luiz over Fernando Torres every day of the week for instance.

Some people are good at them, some are bad, regardless of position.

All England EL and CL then in the end.

    Chelsea v Arsenal

How many players can say their last touch of a ball for a club in their home ground puts them through to a final?

Just can't see it being something defenders practice all that much tbh. Not too many take them in a match like.

Also... Jamie Carragher was good at penalties? Guess I learn something new every day :pac:

The greatest penalty taker of the modern era was a defender.

    It's about practice.

Feel sorry for Frankfurt. They've had a great season but now relying on finishing fourth to get CL football and still have to play Bayern before the season's out. Will be tough.
