Seemingly none of the games involving British teams are being televised, but some CL qualifiers that nobody cares about are.

Just announced today that BT Sport have acquired the rights for the second leg of Burnley vs Olympiakos this Thursday. It will be on BT Sport 2.

Here are the teams for Burnley vs Olympiakos, live tonight at 7.45 on BT Sport 2:
Burnley XI: Heaton, Bardsley, Mee, Long, Taylor, McNeil, Westwood, Hendrick, Lennon, Barnes, Vokes.

Olympiakos XI: Gianniotis, Elabdellaoui, Roderick, Vukovic, Tsimikas, Bouchalakis, Camara, Lazaros, Fortounis, Podence, Guerrero.

Long and Hendrick are the Irish players involved, while Ward is on the bench.

Burnley are 3-1 down from the first leg.

Leipzig have survived an almighty scare at home against Zorya Luhansk. They found themselves 2-1 down and needing to score 2 goals in the final 25 minutes. They managed it via Augustin and a 90th minute pen from Forsberg. I'm pleased they're through as the competition would be less interesting to me without them.

Atalanta are in a spot of bother as they've gone to Extra-Time away to FC Copenhagen.

F91 Dudelange of Luxembourg qualified for the Europa League group stage. An incredible achievement for a side that is mostly amateur/semi-professional.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Copenhagen have knocked out Atalanta 4-3 on penalties. Disappointed to hear that but a fine result for the Danes.

Half-Time at Turf Moor: Burnley and Olympiakos still goalless. Hard to believe as there have been plenty of chances. Burnley have been on top and Barnes and Vokes went close. Podence had a good chance on the break for the Greeks but wasted it. I think Dyche will be happy with the display so far.

Meanwhile Celtic are leading Suduva 1-0 through Leigh Griffiths.

    Podence scores for Olympiakos. :(

Tie over. Burnley have battered them tonight but just couldn't finish their chances.

Update: Goal for Burnley. Vydra from close range. 85 minutes gone and Burnley still need two.

Full-Time: Ends 1-1 on the night and 4-2 to Olympiakos on aggregate. Feel sorry for Burnley. They were the better team on the night but couldn't take their chances.

Better off going out, they've really struggled domestically already playing Thursday & Sunday. Pity Dyche didn't get backed by the owner like he should have after getting Europe.
Pity Atalanta are gone out after their run last year, they should be beating Copenhagen tbh.

Dyche saying in his press conference post match that opposition were doing a fair bit of acting on the pitch.Probably as well off for Burnley to go out as they have a small squad.

Celtic in the same group as Salzburg. Tricky one.

Arsenal in the same group as Sporting Lisbon. Another tricky one.

Milan in with Burnley's victors, Olympiakos. What might have been...

Lazio in with Marseille. Should be fun ties there.

    Chelsea are in with PAOK.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Leipzig now in with Celtic and Salzburg. Very tough for Celtic. Two Red Bull sides clash.

Eintracht Frankfurt in with Lazio and Marseille. Looks a tasty group.

Qarabag in with Arsenal and Sporting. Not bad for Arsenal that one.

Betis in with Olympiakos and Milan. This looks another tasty one.

BATE Borisov in with Chelsea and PAOK.

Rangers in with Villarreal, Rapid Vienna and Spartak Moscow.

Vorskla in with Arsenal, Sporting and Qarabag.

Dudelange landed a super group with Olympiakos, Milan and Betis.

Vidi in with Chelsea, PAOK and BATE Borisov.

Spartak Moscow went from top seeds in the Champions League to 3rd seeds in the Europa League in 12 months.
Few decent games in this, you have Betis vs Milan, and Lazio vs Marseille. I can genuinely say I've not heard of a lot of the 4th seeds. Which is a bad sign for a potential UEFA's 3rd club competition.

Initial thoughts are that Groups B, F and H look the most exciting.

Chelsea should breeze through; Arsenal should also advance, although Sporting will be in contention to top the group.

Don't think Rangers will be too disappointed with their group as it could have been worse. Celtic to me look like they will be going out at the first hurdle as the Red Bull sides are strong.

Tough group for us. Still though I think we should come through. Our neighbours Sevilla on the other hand got probably one of the easiest groups around.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,421 ✭✭✭major bill

Celtic must have a pain in their hoop playing Rosenborg!

    Looking at the groups

Celtic tough group, be interesting to see the two Red Bulls play it out, would fancy Celtic though coming out of it with 9 points from home games.

Arsenal and Chelsea shouldnt have too much trouble progressing

F91 Dudelange rewarded with a cracking tie against Milan but be lucky to get a point overall in the group.

Rangers first time back in the groups hasn't being kind, still fancy them to pick up a couple of points but think the group is the end of the road for them

When are the dates out? Wouldn't mind a trip to Milan, not so much olympiakos after what happened recently.

Cant complain reallly from a Chelsea POV.

    Avoided Lisbon, Milan, Marsille, Betis.

I do think we'll be making massive changes for the EL group games too, maybe 8+ players coming in.

I was just thinking, if there's a situation where one Red Bull team needs to beat the other to qualify, there's going to accusations of match-fixing. Let's say if Leipzig have already qualified and their last or second-last game is against Salzburg, who need a win to pip Celtic to second place, Leipzig can deliberately lose to allow their brother team through.

At one point I remember if it wasn't sure whether they could both compete in europe at the same time. Think they got around it with some technicality.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

They've come a long way from losing to UCD in the first qualifying round in 2015. 5 of their squad for the latest two games played some part in the UCD games in 2015.

It's something to do with the ownership rules in Germany, RB Leipzig are RasenBallsport Leipzig not officially "Red Bull"

Europa League games coming up shortly. What matches are people plannng to watch? Lot of nice options imo. For the early kick-off I'm going to try and keep an eye on both Villarreal vs Rangers and Marseille vs Eintracht Frankfurt.

Just noticed Marseille are playing behind closed doors because of crowd disturbances in the Europa League final. Real pity. Lack of atmosphere often hurts the spectacle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

    BACCAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

What a start for Villarreal. 45 seconds apparently. Brilliant strike. Awful beginning for Rangers.

Update: And now Ocampos just put Marseille in front inside three minutes. Looks like I chose the games to watch well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,274 ✭✭✭HalloweenJack

Have Sevilla and Standard Liege on in the background. Banega's just scored a sweet free-kick to put Sevilla one up.

Looks like Amadou has dislocated his elbow, it was just an awkward landing as he tried to stop himself falling flat on his face. The good news is it looks like Roque Mesa, the owner of football's most impressive moustache, will be coming on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

PAOK not up to much so far anyway, handy enough game for Chelsea and should be a couple up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Think goal of the round has been sorted. Ismaila Sarr of Rennes, one of Ligue 1's most exciting talents, with this effort:

Sevilla fall asleep at a corner and Standard equalise.

Just gone 2-1 to Sevilla now as Vazquez curls one in from the edge of the box.

Only realised now that the Standard keeper is Guillermo Ochoa. He's chopped off his curls and looks totally different.

Frankfurt have equalised against Marseille from a corner. Torro with a header. The Germans have started the half well.

Update: Frankfurt's Willems given a second yellow card for a wild tackle on Payet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,274 ✭✭✭HalloweenJack

Sevilla have gone 3-1 up with a sweeping team move started off and finished by Ben Yedder.

I'm interested in seeing Quincy Promes playing for Sevilla as I understand he's their most expensive signing. He's full of tricks and pace but hasn't been on the ball much.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Rangers have equalised with their first attempt on goal. Arfield.

And Villarreal hit back immediately to make it 2-1! Gerard the scorer against Gerrard's side.

Update: Wow, Lafferty has made it 2-2. Nice finish with the left foot. Middleton looking a threat since he came on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,274 ✭✭✭HalloweenJack

    4-1 Sevilla. Ben Yedder again.

Banega picked up on some lazy passing about at the back by Standard, slipped it into Ben Yedder who dinked it over Ochoa.

EDIT: 5-1 now. Standard messing about in defense again and leads to a kung-fu kick foul in the box. Banega steps up and slides it into the bottom corner.

    Rangers should have scored there.

Great result for Rangers 2-2 away from home.

Oh dear. Substitute Jovic has won it at the death for Frankfurt after suicidal defending from Marseille.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Fair play to Rangers. I thought they'd lose by a few goals but that's a fine result.

Marseille will be gutted. Radonjic attempting a cross-field pass from the 6 yard box, giving it to Frankfurt who score. The one pass he didn't need to make. Don't think they deserved to lose but if you defend that badly you can't have any complaints.

I see Ben Arfa came on as sub for Rennes for his debut and got the winner with a stoppage time pen. Never boring with this guy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Dabbur has given Salzburg the lead away to Leipzig. He really should be in one of the top 5 leagues. I remember him doing well in the Champions League play-off game a few weeks back.

And now it's 2-0! Haidara! Leipzig defence AWOL.
