Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is there any particular rhyme or reason to the selection of early games? i thought it might be based on time zones but that clearly doesn't apply to Ajax...

I saw some graphic which indicated the further right you go across the map the more likely you get early games i.e. none for games in the UK, many for games in Russia.

    That's a red, no?

Shaktar have looked very poor tonight.

Great strike from Maycon. Deserved equaliser for Shaktar.

No sooner do I say it and Maycon hits a cracker from 25 yards out. 2-2.

Here's the schedule for the early kick-offs:

Most of the Moscow games none of the England ones is about all the pattern I can see...

Some strike from Maycon. Shakhtar 2-2.

    Taxi for Maycon.
A Rolls Royce one with all the luxury fittings to take him home after the game...

Re the 5.55 fixtures, I envisage there is logistical reasons. Attendances due to work and traffic etc will be down in the likes of England if the fixtures fall into what is peak time whilst in mainland Europe a "5:55" kickoff is 6:55., and further east hitting 7:55 and even 8.55............ I imagine that came into equation when British teams negotiated there way out of not having any 5:55 kick off times. Which is sensible.

Really enjoyed Shaktar vs Hoffenheim. Just saw Tagliafico's goal for Ajax which was a stunner but I don't believe he meant it.

Like the way there's a live EFL game on Sky to fill in those interminable empty minutes between the CL games. Humanity is gradually evolving toward a state where there'll be live televised football to fill every waking minute...

James Richardson in fine punning form tonight, but I wouldn't expect anything else.

Mourinho is taking a big risk in dropping their best player Fellaini; could definitely see them struggling.

Renato Sanches given an opportunity tonight.

First proper competitive start for them in a year and a half nearly

Oh, and it is against his old club!

And soon it'll no longer be 'televised' in the traditional sense: 'watching football' will be some hyper-VR experience where you 'live' the match from the POV of the ball. Or something...

I have wondered why we're yet to have "fans eye view" VR experiences from the stands.

Apparently the kids no longer actually watch whole games.

    Emptyhad yet again.

Thought he was finished after Swansea

Decent opening 20 minutes from Lyon. City looking more likely to score but yet to hit top gear. Sterling looking the most likely to find a breakthrough.

Shocking to see and I heard city were basically given tickets away for their home group games.

Lyon take the lead at the Etihad! Lovely finish from Cornet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

    CORNEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

    Lyon lead!

Ndombele has done well this first half an hour.

It's hardly WCW in its dying days the fans have to watch to need to paper home games. Cue Man City signing Ahmed Johnson & Dennis Rodman.

City not clicking.... the fast ball is literally too fast and the players are not tuned in

    Red for Ronaldo!!!!

/redcafe announces a day of mourning

Actually it's good news for Utd - a straight red for violent conduct means he is banned for the next 3 CL games doesn't it?.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,495 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

    Ronaldo sent off lol.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,855 ✭✭✭irishguitarlad

I don't think that was a red to be fair. Extremely harsh.

    Edit-That was no red.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

Even if Ronaldo is crying he handled himself better than Douglas Costa did on Sunday.

Just when he was driving he mad with how slow he was passing the ball he Smashes the ball into the net.
    Classic Pogba

What a goal by Pogba :)

How beautiful and satisfying a sight as to see Ronaldo red carded and then start to cry over it. :pac::pac:

Ronaldo was just being normal Ronaldo. Which in itself is red card worthy imo but I'm conflicted because I'm a Juve fan...

Ronaldo Pogba January swap deal is lining up nicely

That was no where near a red.. Surely it will be recinded.

That second goal for Plzen was top class. Lovely outside of the foot cross and a superb volley.

Nothing could accelerate the argument in favour of VAR more than an illegitimate red card for Ronaldo, maybe some good will come of this.

Ridiculous decision in the Utd game. That was never handball.
