Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So, Ronaldo red card and that United penalty so far. How many other shocking decisions will we get tonight?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Fair harsh penalty for us I thought. Handball penalties can be very hard to determine

    Penalty for Juve!!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,369 ✭✭✭Rossi IRL

Nothing could accelerate the argument in favour of VAR more than an illegitimate red card for Ronaldo, maybe some good will come of this.

    Hope so, I like VAR

We just got a soft pen which would of been overturned. Still want VAR to come in as soon as possible.

    1-0 Juve, Pjanic

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Wow 2-0 to Lyon at Half-Time. Fantastic stuff from the French side so far. Fekir's been unbelievable, Denayer looking good at the back, Ndombele impressive in midfield.

Gonna enjoy it before the inevitable City comeback in the second half.

Has Depay got the 2 assists?

    Fekir got the first.
    Fekir 2-0 :):):)

Deffo a Liverpool player in waiting.

Had a certain resemblance to the Oxlade-Chamberlain goal last season.

I dunno does that red even count by the letter of the law, never mind the spirit.

    I'd say it'll be overturned.

What the flying **** did Ronaldo get sent off for??

He put his hand on the top of lads head. That will surely be rescinded

    2nd pen scored by Pjanic.

It might sound like the ref has tried to even things up, but they were both justified.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,855 ✭✭✭irishguitarlad

Another penalty for Juve, mad stuff haha

Would Pjanic even be on penalties if Ronaldo was still on I wonder?

Savage team goal from Bayern, Sanches starts and finishes it to make it 2-0 away at his former club.

    Can that happen?

Nope. I'm ok with that but it's criminal that Ronaldo is taking free kicks when Pjanic converts them way more often than CR7

Bale, 2-0. Superb through ball from the best midfielder in the world, nice finish from Bale.

    Depay so close. :(

    What a pass from Ndombele.

Actually a super save from Ederson having seen the replay.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,495 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

Depay the width of the post away from making it 3-0 Lyon.

EDIT: Ederson got fingertips to it, quality save as it turns out.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

He's flopped since he left and is scoring against them.
This as they lose their 8th? 9th? 10th? Champions League game in a row. I remember they used to be difficult to beat there, now like Porto they are sh*t quite frankly

  • Registered Users Posts: 972 ✭✭✭snowblind

rescind that alex sandro yellow while at it

Bernardo Silva makes it 2-1. Nice work from Sane.

    Game on.

    Here comes the City comeback....:(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,504 ✭✭✭Masala

Better from City. Sane bringing a bit of urgency to the game. Aquero quiet but just needs a decent ball to turn this around

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Feck, I hope Ndombele ain't injured. He's been immense tonight.

Seems like he's okay. Dubois on for Rafael is a big call. He hasn't settled in great and he's got a huge task in Sane to deal with. Hope he's up to it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,775 ✭✭✭✭Gbear

That's a slow walk off by Sterling when your team is chasing a goal and there's not much time left.

Stuff like that would really piss a manager off.

Schick as a signing sums up Monchi's time at Roma best. Spent a lot of money on a player who doesn't replace what you sold in terms of style to the team or quality.

Only a matter of time before people realise it’s more than just the PSG league. Lyon were great tonight, a good result for Ligue 1 on the whole.

City have been poor with a few games now. Fixture list been very kind to them. Lyon deserved winners.

Have to give major props to Genesio (Genius-o?). I queried his team selection leaving out Tousart and Traore for Diop and Cornet but it worked a treat. I never would have believed Cornet could produce a performance like that. Never rated him much before tonight.

Especially happy for Ndombele who was superb. One of my favourite players in the game right now. Think he's a future superstar.

Have lost 5 of their last 6 Champions League games according to the BT sport guys.

    Couldn't have.

    Lost tonight

    Lost both against LFC.

Got through to 1/4s so couldn't have lost both legs.

They did. Lost both to Liverpool, one of the legs against Basel in the previous round (they won the first leg 4-0) and lost the last group game. And tonight.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

Got through to 1/4s so couldn't have lost both legs.

I think they lost the second leg in the last 16 & last group stage game in Donesk.
Only tonight & the Liverpool games mattered.

Article 50 Yellow and red cards
50.01 As a rule, a player who is sent off the field of play is suspended for the next match in a UEFA club competition (i.e. UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League or UEFA Super Cup).
In case of serious offences, the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body is entitled to augment this punishment, including by extending it to other competitions.

Ronaldo will be back for the game at Old Trafford

Just saw the Ronaldo incident. I don't know what the official who recommended a red thought was so egregious. All that was needed was the ref to have a word with them both and tell them to cop on. I expect it will be rescinded.

Sure anything can look bad in a still. I've seen the footage and there's nothing in it. If a ref wanted to be really fussy they could book him for being petulant but I think a strong ref tells both of them to stop acting the eejit and get on with the game.
