Alot of arrogance on show from Klopp with his selection. He and the team seemed to think red star were just going to roll over and have their bellies tickled.

More concerning for Liverpool has to be how banjaxed the team looks. Only a third of the way through the season and they look a bit funked already. Klopp not having any other card to play other than the press could see another fruitless season despite record breaking sums of money being spent.

A crap performance can be accepted with a win.

A good performance can be accepted with a loss.

A shyt performance AND a loss too though.

    Pressure is on Jurgen now.

Can he turn things around or will he just throw in the towel like he did at Dortmund.

Dreadful performance tonight, no Liverpool fan would disagree with that. Klopp got his team selection wrong, simple as.

I agree with most of what you've said but your last line is just wishful thinking. Dortmund lost their best players and finished in mid-table. Liverpool are 2 points off Man City and still have qualification in the CL knock-outs in their own hands. Bad result tonight and lessons should, and hopefully will, be learned but the sky ain't falling.

You see, the problem here is you’ve written a good, truthful post with a lot of valid points, and then you go and make a joke of it with a line like that.

We were awful tonight, showed Red Star absolutely no respect by starting Sturridge and Lallana and playing like it was a friendly throughout much of the contest. As bad a performance as I’ve seen from us under Klopp.

He’s not under pressure though, that’s just absurd. Two points off the top of the league, still in with a good chance of reaching the last 16 of the CL, the best defence we’ve had in over a decade and we probably have a bit to spend in January if the right player is available to improve some area of the squad. Do you really think his job is in any danger, given that’s pretty much what “pressure is on _____” means in football management?

If it’s just a little dig at a rival club, that’s fine and understandable given the circumstances, enjoy the fallout I say. I hope that’s what it is anyway, believing Klopp is under any real pressure and might “throw in the towel” would suggest you have a loose grip on reality.

Perhaps, but ye havnt been firing on nearly as many cylinders as last year thus far. With the team looking lethargic already it's far from guaranteed that ye will click into another gear as the high tempo constant pressing that worked so well will eventually take the physical toll. The season is only going to get harder and ye could realistically end up in the Europa League which is a hure of a competition for any team with designs on top 4, never mind winning the league.

I actually meant pressure to get out of the group tbh.

As for Henry, jaysus that's a bad hammering
    Will he be sacked already??

Always thought he was a spoofer as an analyst but you can't wing it as a manager on the back of a 'sexy' French accent. Especially not in France...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,214 ✭✭✭✭StringerBell

I wouldn't say there's pressure on klopp in terms of his job itself but he has certainly put himself under unnecessary pressure qualification wise in the group. Still well in their own hands of course but would be a lot more comfortable with those 3 points.

Games v PSG and Napoli aren't gimmes, you would still fancy Liverpool to et through if they can sort themselves out but there is certainly more pressure then there was a couple of hours ago

Well why add in the bit about throwing in the towel then? That contradicts what you’ve just said.

Pressure on us to get out of the group? Absolutely, you’re spot on once again.

Well done to Red Star first Serbian team to win match in CL group stage.

Maybe the worst team too so its a game they will long remember

I'd say that red star team didn't even cost as much as one Virgil van dyke did it?

Virgil cost 4 times more than Red Star have spent in their entire history

    !

Bit mad that Spurs have to play on a car park due to the NFL, that pitch is just asking for injuries

Can't understand how the pitch could get into that state for a CL match for what should be considered the best stadium in the UK

Saul Niguez gives Atletico the lead finishing off a nice move he was involved in with the help of an Akanji deflection.

I'd completely forgotten he departed late last season. It could explain alot. He was there when the team were purring so they were well used to the tactics and playing together. Klopp has had to do it himself this season and it's been a bit stuttering. Perhaps the bridesmaid was really the bride the whole time.

As was said in the summer they won't be any pressure on klopp because they have low targets.

If he goes along this season and they manage to get top four and no trophies again the fans will be happy with that because that's an improvement from where they came from so klopp knows all he has to do is keep smiling and charming and get top four and he will have his job.

It's just different standards when you don't win trophies in a regular basis your not going to suddenly set them as a target.

If PSG win this, then a Liverpool win v Napoli at Anfield in the final game will see them qualify, irrespective of what happens in Rnd 5.

Champion League finalists last season ,would be expecting to go deep unto the competition again.A really bad result tonight on and off the field, leaving the team needing 2 big performances now.

Why would there be no pressure on Klopp unless there is no expectations on him or the team to perform?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,855 ✭✭✭irishguitarlad

How in the **** didn't Napoli score there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Vital block from Kehrer. And then Mertens misses a sitter.

    All Napoli now.

Given how much trouble Napoli gave them last time, that's far from a banker. Napoli are a very good side. Giving PSG are very good game tonight.

I imagine Tuchel will introduce Rabiot soon. Napoli dominant.

Pen to Napoli. Buffon with the foul on Callejon. It was clumsy.

And Insigne scores. 1-1. It was coming.

Should be some ending to this game now. Napoli so enjoyable to watch when they go all out.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,855 ✭✭✭irishguitarlad

Great penalty by insigne, especially with some scumbag in the ground shining a lazer in his face.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Cavani coming on. Would be quite the story if he gets the winner against his former side.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Lovely goal from Griezmann to make it 2-0 Atletico. Looks like they'll avenge that loss in Germany. Nice assist by Thomas Partey who has been very good.

Atletico go 2-0 up at home to Dortmund, great counter attack and a beautiful finish from Griezmann.

Jammy spurs. 2 deflections. Kane had been useless all evening too

  • Huge goal for Spurs

    Jammy as **** tho!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,495 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

Spurs score a double-deflected winner from the head of Harry Kane. I suppose they were due a bit of luck, but that’s absolutely cruel on PSV.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,216 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

Bloody deserved to win that, but that was some bloody luck to get that goal at the end.
