    Didn’t see that coming.

    Theatrics from Mourinho. Juvenile.

Pleased to hear United have won. Sounds like it was the wretched watch I feared it would be.

Mourinho has to face a heavy fines for those actions. Disgrace

As Mourinho is so inept tactically, he is vital for getting results - knock it up to the big lad up front. Drogba was his most important player at Chelsea. Dave Bassett would be proud of the tactics.

I wouldn't want to be setting any dangerous precedents with the lad we have on the sideline. I seem to remember Mourinho saying something recently about not celebrating as it's disrespectful.

he made those four bottles look very heavy

    Not much to it.

I didn't realise Shakhtar had scored a stoppage time winner against Hoffenheim. That means the German side are now out. Lyon will now need a point away in Ukraine to secure qualification. That will be a massive game.

Yeah disgusting behaviour, would you be happy with a year ban or is that not harsh enough?

I'd say a few United fans would be delighted if he got a lifetime ban to get him out of the club.

    ?

Clear handball, and clear decisive advantage from it, but would have been hard for the ref to spot at full speed - one of those ones VAR would have made a difference for, but can't blame the ref too much really.

Watching these European sides giving Man City a run for their money puts the quality of PL, where Man City can win a game by half time whilst playing in third gear, into context. Don't care what any pundit says, this Lyon would be a top four outfit in the PL.

City are a really consistent side. Rarely play below a certain level. Which means they thump many lower sides in the EPL. City's base level consistency is very good but it is not exceptional. They are not an exceptional side. When they play sides of the top tier in Europe their limitations are visible. They may still win the UCL this season but it won't be anything like their romp to first or second in the EPL.
City are still a few players from being exceptional. Missing out on Jorginho this season was huge. Against better midfields both Fernanindho and, when he plays, De Bruyne, are not that resistant to a press, tighter spaces. They are also one goalkeeper injury away from serious jeopardy to their build up play.

Feck. He's definitely after Ndombele now. Probably Aouar and Ferland Mendy as well. After Monaco knocked him out he went and got Silva and Benjamin Mendy in the summer. Wanted Mbappe as well I think.

Yeah, can still top their group too, if they beat Bayern in Amsterdam... tough ask of course, but they managed a draw in Munich, so you never know!

Ye they were rubbish for about 8 years after 2004, seem to be better the last 7 years or so. Some good young players. PSV seem to be quite a functional team, so can't really compete with the top european teams, whereas Ajax can live with the likes of Bayern et al. on a technical level.

Who do people think will win it from here on out? Might throw an each way bet on BVB myself, but they're not the finished article yet, this year is probably too soon

A lot can happen between now and February but I think Juve have a great chance with Ronaldo there.

Teams for Atletico vs Monaco which kicks off shortly:
Atletico XI: Oblak; Arias, Savic, Lucas Hernandez, Filipe Luis; Koke, Rodri, Thomas Partey, Lemar; Griezmann, Correa.

Monaco XI: Benaglio; Biancone, Raggi, Jemerson, Badiashile, Chadli; Massengo, Tielemans, Golovin; Grandsir, Moussa Sylla.

This could get ugly. Henry has named four teenagers in his line-up, while Falcao surprisingly is left on the bench as he returns to his former club.

Costa, Godin and Jimenez are missing for Atletico.

I fancy Atletico to win comfortably by a few goals. I'll say 4-1.

Atletico lead 1-0 after 90 seconds. A deflected strike from Koke who was given acres of space.

Not too unhappy that things aren't working out for Henry at Monaco.

2-0 now inside 25 minutes. Griezmann from close range after Correa leaves Jemerson on his backside with some nice skill.

Problems for PSG and good news for Liverpool as it seems Rabiot is intent on burning his bridge with the club.

Update: Seems he will be on the bench so not completely out of the equation.

    https://twitter.com/Jon_LeGossip/status/1067852056482983936

Meunier out for personal reasons which is a blow for them. Big fan of him. Teams:
PSG XI: Buffon - Kehrer, Silva, Kimpembe, Bernat - Marquinhos, Verratti, Di Maria - Mbappe, Cavani, Neymar.

Liverpool XI: Alisson - Gomez, Lovren, Van Dijk, Robertson - Milner, Wijnaldum, Henderson - Salah, Firmino, Mane.

I'd worry for PSG without Meunier, while Bernat is far from convincing so I think Liverpool can get some joy out wide. That midfield is nothing for Liverpool to fear either. On the other hand I'd fancy Neymar to cause plenty of problems for Gomez.

PSG going to need their firepower to see them through as I feel Liverpool can get goals. Should be a cracking game. My feeling is Liverpool can edge it, but I'm leaning slightly more towards it being something like 2-2.

Here's hoping for lots of drama.

Spurs vs Inter teams which should also be a good game:
Tottenham XI: Lloris; Aurier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies; Winks, Sissoko; Lamela, Dele, Lucas; Kane.

Inter XI: Handanovic; D'Ambrosio, Skriniar, De Vrij, Asamoah; Brozovic, Vecino; Politano, Nainggolan, Perisic; Icardi.

Two of the best strikers on show in this one. I feel like Kane will have the final say on this occasion.

Galatasaray look to be heading out. 2-0 down to bottom of the group Lokomotiv. If it stays this way Porto and Schalke will be through before they play one another later.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Savic given a second yellow for handball as Monaco get a penalty. Lifeline presented to them here.

And Falcao sends it wide against his old side!

I never fancy him to score from the spot. Misses too many times.

Full-Time: It ends 2-0 to Atletico. Not as bad a result as I feared for Monaco. They did better in the second half after a poor first 45. Tielemans, Grandsir and the teenager Massengo played well. Pressure on Dortmund to beat Brugge later and go level with Atletico.

Galatasaray are out with their loss in Russia. I'm pleased Porto and Schalke made it out of their group.

Verratti lucky he wasn't given a red for that. Poor challenge. I reckon under VAR he'd be off.
